“Don't waste your time!”
Review of Segway New Mexico

Segway New Mexico
Ranked #28 of 42 Tours in Albuquerque
Reviewed October 15, 2012

Made our reservation for a group of eight almost a year in advance and received an email receipt. I followed up with a confirmation email two weeks prior to our tour. We arrived on Thursday afternoon and the doors were locked. We waited over half an hour. Asked neighboring business and were told they hadn't seen activity at the segway tour company in several months. Called all the listed phone numbers and no answer. Emailed a note that we were waiting. What kind of business doesn't check messages or emails regularly? (And during the busiest time of the year during the Balloon Fiesta?) Several hours later the owner called and said he was unaware we had a scheduled tour. The next morning we tried to call to reschedule the tour on not only his business lines, but the cell he had used to call us the night before and he never returned our call. Don't waste your time! Old Town is better toured on foot anyway.

I never made it on my tour due to poor communication from the Segway company and was accused of lying about my presence at the shop even though I have a picture of the date and time I was there waiting for them to open their doors.

Three of us (representing three generations) set out to explore ABQ Old Town in an interesting and unique way. We found Segway NM and drove there to go on a two hour tour. The first half hour was spent on training in their parking lot. We practiced getting on and off, starting, stopping, speed control, turning, going around cones ,and going over bumps until we (and they) were fairly confident of our abilities to handle the Segways safely. With crash helmets on, we proceeded to go on a pleasant tour. Our guide was very safety conscious and instead of pointing out sights, pointed out hazards to avoid. We were able to do some sight-seeing when the going was slow and easy or we were stopped for a break.

Riding the Segways was not particularly physically demanding, but we all found that since we were not used to it, our bodies were tense and therefore we were a little stiff afterwards.
This company welcomes children to ride as long as they can learn to control the Segway.
(They say they are often better riders than adults).
