“I like their beers but not the location.”
Review of Il Vicino Canteen

Il Vicino Canteen
Ranked #265 of 1,826 Restaurants in Albuquerque

Description: Il Vicino Canteen (which brews beer for all four of Il Vicino restaurants in New Mexico) is an awesome oasis of great beer, food & service! OK - so it's located in an industrial area just north of Candelaria Rd NE. But, they have a spacious & hip new tap room. (fyi - the previous location had a tasting room about the size of a postage stamp.)Beers... Awesome! Well-crafted and very quaffable. The Wet Mountain IPA was great as well as the double IPA. And, they've been wining medals since 1995!Food... It's a tapas-style menu with "Noshes, Salads & Swanky Sandwiches" We had the hot pretzels with spicy, wholegrain mustard and a taste of the Mortadella meat. Both were good. Looking forward to trying one of the Panini sandwiches or the Rotating Meat & Cheese Board.Service... Outstanding! David was a super host. Showed us around from the brewery, the tap room, and the outdoor covered patio. He was very knowledgeable about the beers. His bartenders were the same with a friendly attitude and helpful suggestions. If you like beer, you SHOULD visit here! Wished we lived closer.

On a tour of local micro breweries we had to stop at the Canteen. Good beers, short menu of appetizers and sandwiches, not the great pizzeria menu their restaurants are know for. Good beers Industrial park locations is a "-"

I was looking for a not too crowded place since I was here during balloon fiesta. I was told of this place by a friend who frequents it regularly. The night I was there, they were steady but still had time to help with beer recommendations, and a great dinner also. It's not a fancy foo foo place, but if you want GREAT local beer served by a friendly outgoing waitstaff, this is the place. The locals I talked with were all eager to recommend their favorites, so I had one or two more than I planned. Good thing the weather was nice so the outside dining was enjoyable.

Very nice beers with a limited menu since they have no kitchen. They offer sandwiches and salads with some appetizers. The atmosphere is a modern ranchers saloon with an outdoor patio where they have music some days of the week. It is a very pleasant place to enjoy a refreshing drink, simple food and the SW sunset. This is not a gastropub, but the interior is very pleasant and clean. And the music is quite good. The location is just off the beaten path, though.
You are going there to enjoy a relaxful stress-free experience, not for purely a gastronomic dining experience. But you won't be dishing out lots of $$$ either.

Have been there twice, both with the cold weather, not sure how it will be when it's warm and it's all open to the outside, inside is pretty nice, they could have more of a selection of food, but this is a brewery.
