“A Place of Natural Beauty and Positive Atmosphere”
Reviewed March 31, 2013

I was first introduced to Los Poblanos two years ago when my boyfriend at the time did a google search for "clean food". We went to eat and were amazed at how wonderful the food was and enjoyed it even more knowing that it came from local and organic ingredients. Since then, we have stayed there more than a dozen times and loved it so much that we had our wedding there in July of 2012. The staff is not only friendly but they go above and beyond to make your stay there comfortable and relaxing. I remember a time when it was really late when we got in and had forgot to request a comforter set for the pullout sofa. It arrived at our door with a smile not only 5 minutes after I called...even though it was late at night. The complimentary breakfast in the mornings is also amazing and you can never go wrong with the freshly squeezed apple or orange juice. When you are there, it feels nothing like being in the city. It is truly a getaway that makes you feel like you are in the country on a farm!! The animals on the farm are such a great bonus and the beautiful peacocks walking around on the grounds make for a great view when sitting out on your private porch. Since we've been married we have stayed in almost every room they offer and have never once been disappointed! In the summers, the salt water pool is such a great way to cool off and moisturize your skin all at the same time...not to mention the flavored water they leave there for you to sip on when you get thirsty. And don't let me forget the workout room...a great addition if you like to sweat a bit in the mornings...or evenings! I could seriously go on and on about this place because I enjoy it every time I am there and would recommend it to anyone. Please go and see for yourself and you will agree!! :)

I love this place enough to make it my go to whenever I'm in Albequerque but staying there is not without its frustrations. Rooms are unique and charming with French presses for morning coffee and lots of local touches. The lavender products are lovely, the peacocks walking by make me smile, and visiting the farm is a treat. If you have to leave before the yummy breakfast (included) they pack a brown bag for you with homemade granola and farm fresh hard boiled eggs that will make your seat mates jealous on that early flight home.

But. Our sleeper bed--"bedding in the closet!"-- had no sheets and only one pillow the size of a Chicklet. Two of us left for that early flight, our third reported there were no bath towels, which she discovered when she stepped out of the shower. And when the 4:30AM taxi they had reportedly ordered for us failed to show, there is no staff available off hours to help. Instead, you stand outside the office in the cold, dark Albequerque morning and call an answering service which, though helpful, is slow to figure out what to do. I made my flight with minutes to spare. The same problem the night before: no one on duty to rustle up sheets and pillows.

Yet I would stay there next time. It's that special, a funky place with a sprig of lavender on the bathtub but no sheets on the bed.

And a big shout out to the on site restaurant. It brings farm to table to a new level. And if David is your waiter you'll forgive everything.

Hello AnneMarie,
Thank you for your feedback! We really appreciate your honest comments. We pride ourselves on offering great service, and we are sorry it wasn't up to your standards on your last stay. As a small Inn, we have the Answering Service in place to assist guests at all hours when our staff can't be there in person. However, this doesn't excuse the errors that were made during your stay. Please be assured that we will follow up with housekeeping to ensure this doesn't happen again. We have also changed the local taxi company that we use, in order to provide a more reliable service for our guests.

Please accept our sincere apologies, and despite the issues you experienced, we are glad to hear you enjoyed the rest of your stay.

Please feel free to contact me directly with any comments or questions.

With best regards,

Nancy Kinyanjui, Inn Manager

Staying at Los Poblanos is nothing short of magical - a deeply textured experience of architecture and landscape, as well as providing superb accomodations. I've stayed there several times and have always had extraordinary meals and encountered staff that feel more like family than employees - they are genuinely kind and helpful. A stay here is not only restful but truly inspiring. Last time it was watching overflights of Sandhill Cranes and geese early in the morning. Los Poblanos is where I go to get away from it all, celebrate anniversaries, and my company has had several 2-day retreats here ... we are so lucky to have this special place. If you want to experience something that really imparts New Mexico at its very best, stay here. It is at the same time elegant and rustic. The rooms are not only wonderful (best beds in the universe) and practical, but each one is INTERESTING. The grounds are delightful in any season, you could spend days exploring. The morning feeding of the animals, a short walk away from the Inn, is a lot of fun. The Farm Store has unique products - I routinely drop by even when I'm not staying there to see what interesting things they have in store for us. In short, it's an experience you'll never forget. It's hard to impart how wonderful this place is in mere words.

Albuquerque by way of Las Vegas is like detox by way of a binge; it takes a while to come back to your baseline. Nearly 24 hours after landing at Sunport International Airport I feel like myself again. And I particularly like myself looking out over the Sandia Mountains in a small village in the North Valley of Albuquerque known as Los Poblanos.

Our digs for the next four days are the farms and once private estate of the Simms family turned Inn that is Historic Los Poblanos Ranch. A working farm growing organic produce and lavender, the Ranch’s mission is to preserve its fields, gardens and New Mexican art and architecture through sustainable practices. As a nationally recognized model for preservation involving the public and surrounding community, I’d say they’re doing a bang up job.

My friends and I had a wonderful time exploring Albuquerque the next few days from our post at the Ranch. I highly recommend a trip to Betty's Bath and Day Spa, but that's another story.

Meanwhile, back at the Ranch, the greenhouse was bursting, a goat was laboring, and guests were enjoying leisurely walks and bike rides on the extensive surrounding trails. You’ll want to pay a visit to the farm shop where you can buy the Ranch’s lavender products (also available online).

Those sublime evenings at Los Poblanos the only sound lulling me to sleep besides the snap, crackle and pop of wood burning in the kiva fireplace was that of sweet, blessed silence.

A beautiful inn all the way around. Super friendly staff, lovely grounds, lovely room and huge room and small kitcheny area. Nice kiva fireplace, comfy bed. Bathroom was huge, separate shower and tub, high quality robes. The morning breakfast was delicious and the portions generous. The coffee was good too. About 8 mins from old town but it seems further b/c it's so quiet and has a "rancho" feel. I consider this a high end inn and will definitely come back.

What a stunning place. Book the Simms room, it is worth it. We had champagne, candles and a fire in what turned out to be our own quarters. Fabulous meal, outstanding breakfast and the most comfortable bed we have slept in on our road trip across America. Thanks to all the staff for their friendly attentiveness. If I were to recommend a place for a wedding it would be here. All other 'historic' hotels take note; this is how it is done!

Room Tip: The Simms suite. A bit more expensive but so worth it. It has no neighbours to the bedroom part of t...

We just spent a marvelous week at Los Poblanos. Our room, the Girard suite is a freestanding casita in the original inn. It is spacious beautifully decorated with folk art and very very comfortable. The included breakfasts are opulent and interesting, and dietary needs are gracefully accommodated. We also had two wonderful dinners in the restaurant, which is a beautiful room filled with windows and lovely New Mexican design.

The inn manages to be luxurious and very comfortable without being at all pretentious, and even when there are many guests it is very quiet. We loved visiting the many farm animals and photographing the peacocks.

I can not imagine staying anywhere else in Albuquerque. And only 25 minutes from the airport!

Room Tip: We much prefer the rooms in the original inn to the newer farm suites though the latter have more am...
