This zoo has a nice, diverse collection. It's not a huge zoo, so it's easy to get around, especially with small children. Highlights for me include the polar bears and the baby white rhino.

There was plenty to see and do for the day. The activities and sights kept us going all day. The butterfly aviary is well worth the trip. Good memories and worth every penny.

There are 3 parts to the Park: the Aquarium--nice but not in the big leagues--the Zoo--excellent--and our personal favorite, the Botanical Garden. We visit the Zoo several times a year with our 2 grand kids and always have a great time. It's shady so pleasant even in summer. Enclosures make for natural experience and there are many special and unique exhibits. The Botanical Garden is very special. My husband and I go at least every season and usually much more often. Serene place to walk, gorgeous plantings (we go for inspiration for our own garden). We especially love the Japanese Garden and the Farm -- they are far back from the entrance but should not be missed. Spring and Fall are incredible here. You can take small train from zoo to garden and aquarium area for small fee added to admission. Fun experience for whole family. Great for couples outdoor experience. Spend a whole day and see it all or enjoy few hours at just one. Bring your own lunch (many nice places for picnic) or eat at one of several eateries (I prefer the former). Summer concerts at zoo and garden are special.

Really interesting place to spend several hours - any time of year. In summer the gardens are super. All December the lighting display is superb (but bundle up!) The aquarium is a great visit - especially for kids.

On our way to Albuquerque Old Town we happened to find this place. We didn't have a lot of time, but we stopped for about an hour or so. The parking lot was huge and there was no charge. We were able to get in for free to the gardens.

It is located on 52 acres of land near the Rio Grande River.

We enjoyed the Heritage Farm with an adobe farmhouse, a beautiful pond, lovely flowers, rare plants area and a children's area that was fun. The Children’s area is sponsored by the Rotary Club and is called the Children’s Fantasy Garden. You do not have to be a child to enjoy this area! It was fabulous. You could walk inside of a super size pumpkin (not a real one) and learn about the insides. If it has been a long trip – take your kids here.

There is also a zoo and an aquarium nearby, that we did not have a chance to see. Those areas have a fee. We will tour more of the park the next time we come and have more time.
