Stayed here in August 2011 for one night, after a drive from Taos. I just wanted something for a few hours' sleep and a shower before I headed to the airport early the next morning. Since I arrived after 8pm, there was no parking in the front and a few spots in the dark on the backside of the hotel. I'm a frequent solo traveler, and as a woman, I did not feel comfortable or safe walking in the dark from my car to the hotel. Once inside, the front desk staff was behind glass...not so comforting. She was nice, and directed me to my room on the second floor (I was grateful to be given a second floor room without having to ask for one). The folks hanging out in the lobby were less than desirable, not sure if they were even guests.
The room was clean, the WiFi worked, and the bathroom (toilet and shower) were tiny. The tub in the shower creaked with every step, and didn't sound very well constructed.
The next morning, there was someone in the lobby coming out of the room where they offered breakfast, asking for a bag so his companion could vomit into it. Ick!
Above all, as with anything else, you get what you pay for. The rate was within my budget, but not so sure I'd stay here again, even for the price. The hotel is RIGHT off the freeway, so you can't miss it, but I can imagine that some road noise would be bothersome to some travelers placed on that side of the property.
