We couldn't of been happier in our comfortable and well decorated private casita. The gardens were beautiful and the details of the pueblo style were interesting. The breakfast had everything from granola, fruit, yogurts, oj, muffins, etc. ,and cooked to order omelletes in the lovely dining area were delicious. The staff gave us excellent advice re: interesting places to see in Old Town, which we found delightful. Casas de Suenos has an artistic past and is 2 short blocks to Old Town.

We booked the Taos room at Casas de Suenos after locating it on the internet. Upon arriving the the grounds and room exceeded our expections. Original art, colorful walls, and a spacious orginal room did not disappoint. Personal service provided by Larry and made to order breakfast by expert Chef made or short stay a pleasant one. The location, close to Old Town, was perfect for touring. We will be returning and wholehearted recommend this property to others.

Casas de Suenos has such wonderful potential. We stayed in the Okeefe room and is need of a major renovation. Front door to our room is glass and the blinds are too small. In other words, people can see in. Room very dated, no room in the bathroom. The toilet is situated between a wall and the sink and me being only 5'4", barely fit in. The bed too big for a small room, so to get into bed, you need to walk sideways. Room seemed very dirty. I didn't want to walk barefoot, sit on the furniture or step into the shower.

The property is a 5 minute walk to the plaza. The grounds are pretty, but it's obvious needs some work. The walkways are missing stones, the grounds need to be manicured, the staff needs to be available. Front desk people were not there during the hours posted, the breakfasts were never ready on time, one day the chef never showed. The lack of detail is very evident. Neglected property. It's clear that no money is put into this property - windows need to be replaced, buildings need to be painted, and there needs to be staff that seem to care about he property and its guests.

There's no excuse not even to have a cup of coffee handy at the time they state breakfast will be served. No one was available when we needed to check out at 8 am. Maybe they don't want to hear the complaints as people leave.

The staff at the Casa De Suenos ("House of Dreams") make this the place to go in old town Albuquerque. From the front desk personnel, housekeeping staff and breakfast personnel, everyone had a kind word and a smile.

Another pro is the quaint (if crumbling) courtyard, as well as the comfy beds (a big priority for me). We were in the "Taos" King suite which was located away from the courtyard. The bathroom was medium sized and clean. It had a bit of a "motelish" feel, but the room was quiet and we felt safe.

The brick in the courtyard is badly in need of repair, and the landscaping could do with a bit of an overhaul. Maintenance overall appeared to be a bit lacking.

The hotel is located off the beaten track a bit, but very close to our favorite old town Albuquerque restaurant, Antiquity (see my review of this restaurant).

Otherwise, for an economical, comfortable and quiet choice in old town Albuquerque, you can't go wrong!

We loved Casas de Suenos. I called the property to see which casita would suit us best and Larry was very helpful. We stayed in the Zuni, which is outside the main compound (an artist's colony in the '30's.) The advantage is that we had easy in and out access and parked our car next to our casita. When we checked in the young woman walked us to our casita and then came back later with maps and literature for some locations she thought we'd find helpful. We were given keys to the gate so that even if we returned late (or got up early) we still had access to the main compound and the gardens. Also, the room has a fabulous mural of Native American women with traditional pots, a kiva fireplace, saltillo tile floor, adobe headboard and end tables. All-in-all an enveloping Native American flavor. Cannot compare with traditional hotels or even B&B's, there is plenty of privacy in any of the 20 casitas and while the propery is well aged there is a certain "patina" about it. The breakfast was outstanding with juices, breads and rolls, cereals, yogurt and fresh fruit PLUS the eggs, omelet, burito or french toast of your choice. The room was clean and spacious and the towels were sumptuous. There was no tub, only a shower, not a problem for us. A very relaxing place to stay with an attentive staff. Very close to Old Town, the BioPark (Gardens, Zoo), the Natural History Museum, the Atomic Museum, Explora!, Albuquerque Museum and much more. If we ever have another opportunity to go to Albuquerque, will definitely consider staying here again.

This is a lovely B & B with lots of charm. There were a few problems. All the rooms are different. You will need to ask about your bathroom. Ours was VERY small. It was clean and updated, but seemed to have been added into a closet. We had only one window that opened so we couldn't get any cross ventilation so the night was stuffy. We stayed in the Georgia O'Keefe so there are probably more options. The sitting area was very comfy, and we enjoyed the breakfast and the easy walk to Old Town.

Casas de Suenos (Houses of Dreams), please note that the actual name of this B&B uses the plural not singular. Casas de Suenos is a real hidden find. The location is fantastic as Old Town is within easy walking distance as are other sights of interest and many things are within easy driving distance. The property is charming, and the accommodations are spacious and very comfortable. When you are on the property, you do not even realize you are in the midst of a rather busy area of Albuquerque. It is easy to imagine what the place was like when it was an artisit colony instead of a B&B. The made-to-order breakfasts are a very special treat as is the bright, sunny room in which breakfast is served. Our room had an original mural by Amado Pena which really made our accommodation special. Both the front desk staff and the breakfast staff were very friendly. This has to be one of the best kept secrets of Albuquerque and I would highly recommend it.
