“Quaint with lots of character”
Reviewed August 9, 2008

This is a lovely B & B with lots of charm. There were a few problems. All the rooms are different. You will need to ask about your bathroom. Ours was VERY small. It was clean and updated, but seemed to have been added into a closet. We had only one window that opened so we couldn't get any cross ventilation so the night was stuffy. We stayed in the Georgia O'Keefe so there are probably more options. The sitting area was very comfy, and we enjoyed the breakfast and the easy walk to Old Town.

  • Liked — The gardens were lovely.
  • Disliked — The room was stuffy and the bathroom was way too small for us.

Casas de Suenos (Houses of Dreams), please note that the actual name of this B&B uses the plural not singular. Casas de Suenos is a real hidden find. The location is fantastic as Old Town is within easy walking distance as are other sights of interest and many things are within easy driving distance. The property is charming, and the accommodations are spacious and very comfortable. When you are on the property, you do not even realize you are in the midst of a rather busy area of Albuquerque. It is easy to imagine what the place was like when it was an artisit colony instead of a B&B. The made-to-order breakfasts are a very special treat as is the bright, sunny room in which breakfast is served. Our room had an original mural by Amado Pena which really made our accommodation special. Both the front desk staff and the breakfast staff were very friendly. This has to be one of the best kept secrets of Albuquerque and I would highly recommend it.

  • Liked — Many things, but the location is difficult to beat.
  • Disliked — Nothing, it was a great place to stay.

I'll repeat one more time: it is absolutely the BEST place to stay in Albuquerque! Just two blocks from the plaza with restaurants and shops. Very clean. Very friendly!

We stayed at Casas De Suenos twice when we were on vacation in NM back in May/June 2008.
Stuff was very helpful and knowledgeable. They made lots of great recommendations for places to eat.
Rooms are exclusive. For our first night we stayed in Rose room and for our second night at La Miranda Suite which was out of this world!

Your stay also includes very healthy and yummy breakfast. We are definitely going to stay here next time we will be in Albuquerque.

Our special thanks go to Robin for her restaurant recommendations and her cheerful personality and to Scott for the best breakfast ever!

My husband and I spent the last 4 days of our New Mexico vacation at this wonderful Bed and Breakfast - Casa de Suenos, in Albuquerque,NM. - from Friday June 5 till Monday June9.2008
It is located in what they call Old Town and is a National Historic Trust Property.
My husband found it on their website.
The grounds - the interior private gardens were so artistically landscaped... I took so many photos.
Each casita had backdoors that opened into this oasis. The casita we stayed in was El Prado. It was a cute little home away from home with a kitchen, living room, bed room and bath. So very private. You could even entertain guests here!

We would highly reccommend that you have the green chile cheese made to order breakfast omelette- it was fantastic- I had it for 3 consecutive mornings! The service was great and everyone from the cook to the wait person to the front desk person was friendly and so helpful ... gave us maps of the Old Town- which is a great section to shop and eat.
I did not realize that this historic place was built by an artist- J.R. Willis in 1939. I am an atist and this was such a plesant surpise.

Casas de Suenos means house of dreams, and it was all of that. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The property is located in the "Old Town" area just west of downtown. There are many shops, galleries, restaurants, etc in the area. All are worth visiting. There are 21 different accommodations to choose from depending on the size of your party. Morning complimentary breakfast is great with fruits of all kinds, toast, eggs, bacon, potatoes, bagels, juices. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with benches, swings, gardens, etc. Nice central location. You feel very welcomed at this B&B.

I planned this weekend getaway for my boyfriend and I.... we were in town for a concert. I had originally booked Hotel Albuquerque, but switched to this hotel b/c of the hot tub. The property is lush and colorful.... we were welcomed by a very helpful and generous front desk rep, who gave us a tour of the fun gardens and showed us to our room (and gave us a quick history lesson). The first night we stayed in the Rio Grande. This was a nice room, but off of the garden.

Breakfast was wonderful and the staff was very nice and welcoming. The waiter was also great. We switched rooms this night so we could have a hot tub. When we got to our room, the hot tub was cold.... we got the front desk lady (who had horrible people skills) and she casually asked the maintenance guy to come help us. He came, and turned it on and said it would heat up. Long story short, 4 hours later and 4 hours of the maintenance in our room, the hot tub was still not working. They left on 4 occasions saying it would work, and each time we would have to go find them to try again. Our afternoon and early evening was spent with a third guest in our room....The front desk woman was rude and asked us to go hunt him down sometimes. Needless to say, the hot tub was not fixed and that was a big let down. The next morning we spoke to the friendly waiter who was VERY apologetic and handled the situation much better than the lazy woman from the day before. He happily called the owner and we ended up speaking to him and he refunded that night.

Overall this property is beautiful, quaint and charming.... unfortunately this one incident (and how she handled it) put a damper on our weekend. Rather than apologizing and being sympathetic, her attitude was "we're trying, what else do you want us to do?" Only after I suggested she "own the problem" and get more help did she stubbornly oblige.

All other employees were wonderful. I would recomend this location for another traveler, just be warey of the hot tub rooms. It's great for a romantic getaway.... and each room is unique and has amazing character. If you're looking for a Ritz Carlton or Marriott, I do not recomend this spot... but if you are looking for a spot with great local charm and decor, then Casas de Suenos is the place for you.

Sandy, the manager, was a wonderful host (though sadly she wasn't present when this happened)

  • Liked — beautiful gardens, traditional decor and delicious breakfast
  • Disliked — Hot tub didn't work, horrible customer service when trying to fix this.

My husband and I just returned from a long weekend at Casas de Suenos in the Old Town section of Albuquerque. What a very special little place this is!! We loved it! This was a much-needed romantic getaway for us, without our two kids, and I am so glad I chose Casas de Suenos for accomodations. The individual casitas feel completely private, and ours had a wonderful little private patio as well. So it did not have that sense you get at some B & B's, that you are staying in someone's home. But it had the definite B&B advantages of wonderful personal service and delicious, full, cooked-to-order breakfasts every morning. On our last morning we had to leave before dawn to make our flight, and the staff made us up a breakfast tray the night before with bagels, fruit and yogurt. The grounds are lovely -- I can understand why it is a popular location for weddings! Everything about this little inn strikes just the right balance for me of casual atmosphere but with attention to detail, warm personal service but plenty of privacy. I can't wait to visit again. Maybe next time we will get a two-bedroom casita and bring our boys. Or maybe not...
