Motel 6 Albuquerque South - Airport
Ranked #118 of 144 Hotels in Albuquerque
Reviewed September 29, 2013

A well adorned Motel 6, easy to get too from I25 and one exchange north of the Airport. It was neat, clean, quiet but what set it apart was the gal at the front desk. She had all the answers to all of my questions and was the front desk experience I had on a 2 week rip. It's a typical 6, tight quarters in the room, dated furniture but it was squeaky clean, and a good sleep.

There aren't any electrical outlets near the beds; one bed actually touches the air conditioner, cleaning people begin working at 7:30 am and are noisy.
Stay at any other location in town but skip this one.

Very very bad! this was one of the very few pet friendly motels. We put the cats food fish on the floor and within 5 mins there were 100'a of ants in the dish! Yuck.
No water pressure in the shower. you can hear your neighbors upstairs and beside you talk.
there was somebody digging around in the dumpster in the middle of the night. and a couple of guys taking a pee behind the building. The heater/AC cover would not stay on the unit.
Cigarette Burns in the sheets. on the plus side it did have parking for the truck we drove.

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to pump room. Maybe you will get water pressure.

This place is in a good neighborhood to the north but no so good across the freeway to the south, I think it is north and south, might be east and west but whatever. It is a little tough to get to because it is on a one way divided road. One has to turn around south of the freeway to get back. We had to go thru a neighboorhood with speed bumps and broken glass by every bump. The motel itself was average good. The beds and bathroom were fine. The tv was ok but there was an upcharge for WiFi. There was no coffee until 6am and it was in the office, nothing in the room. The desk people were very nice and helpful. For the price it was ok at $39.99, a decent place to crash for the nite and move on.

Room Tip: First floor is better, closer to your vehicle.

Usually the Motel 6's I've been to have been alright. You expect what you pay for but this one had really hard beds and I woke up with a backache and didn't sleep very well at all. This wasn't good because I was about to take a long international flight and was going to sitting in an airplane for a long time.

Had to stay unexpectedly overnight in Albq., so I opted for the more budget friendly Motel 6. I thought it would be a good move because I had stayed at the one off of the interstate in the past and had no problems with it, so I thought I would give this one a try. First of all I want to say the two gals running the front desk were absolutely delightful and friendly, it's always a plus when you have good staff working for you- but that's about it. My room was on the 2nd floor non-smoking. Room did not appear to smell like smoke. (a plus!) The rooms are stripped to bare essentials. The floors are laminated wood- and the uneven floors crack and squeek with every step and even when you turn in bed...lol...The T.V. hadn't been dusted in months, I was apprehensive about getting in the bed after seeing that. The heating/air conditioner had been rigged to work- it too looked like it hadn't been cleaned either. Don't even get me started on the shower. (I've seen public amenities that have been cleaner.) Needless to say, I skiped the shower for the morning. BUT THATS NOT ALL!! If you are easily bugged by noise THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU. I kept thinking that there was construction going on- OK so they'll stop by 10:00 at night...maybe....right? Wrong. After listenting to consistant -Loud-CLANGING (is that a word?) CLACKING sound every 5 minutes...it never stopped! Come to find out there's a grate laid out in the street that when drove over makes the loudest annoying noise! Everytime! And during my stay I was fortunate enough to have a semi truck that parked outside my door and it would start up every hour or so throughout the night- joy. Couple that together with paper thin pillows, and you've got a "not-so" restful night. So if you chose to stay here, be ready for a substandard stay.

Room Tip: You get what you pay for...

Usually you can count on Motel 6 to "leave the light on for you" and have a clean, comfortable place to sleep while travelling. If you get into Albuquerque Sunport Airport and want to stop somewhere for the night and you see this motel, keep driving. This motel is a dump.
First, the air conditioner made a god-awful noise, and while it did cool the room, we had to turn it off to sleep because it was so loud. The next morning, it would not function at all. Meanwhile, the TV volume was extremely low because of 2 things--the sound of the air conditioner, and the fact that one of the (older model TV) speakers had been removed. Curtains were in need of repair, and while the room was pretty clean, this was the first time I felt nervous getting into the bed for fear of bugs. Although is was Memorial Day weekend, the outdoor pool was closed and empty, not that I would have trusted swimming in it any way. And at a total price of over $50, it was not such a bargain at all.
If you are tired and looking for a place to stop off I-25, keep going and try Red Roof Inn or Clubhouse--ANY PLACE is better than this.

Room Tip: DON'T STOP HERE! Not worth the money.
