While on a recent trip we stumbled upon this HI express. We were planning on an overnight stay, but the hotel was so nice and the staff were so pleasant and accommodating, that we extended our stay another day. If we weren't on our way back from our actual vacation, we would have stayed another day! Their recommendations for dinner, the old town area, and the hotels location were all superb. If you're traveling through, you can't go wrong with this one! The general manager and the lady she was training (who will be operating the hotel in Gallup) were absolutely fantastic and went above and beyond to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. They were very familiar with the area and gave wonderful recommendations on activities and eateries!

We made a reservation at this Holiday Inn Express at the last minute when we decided to go a bit further on a road trip and stop in Albuquerque instead of Gallup. The hotel was just a block off the interstate, extremely easy to find and convenient. It appeared to be almost brand new. The desk clerk was very helpful and friendly, got us checked in quickly. The room was great, two good beds, and a roomy bathroom. It was quiet too, which was a nice surprise since it was next to the elevator and to the exercise room. Very convenient to Old Town restaurants. Will stay here again next time through!

We were highly satified with our stay of 2 nights over a weekend. I have absolutely no complaints. We came to Abq via Amtrak just to visit Old Town. We arrived late afternoon and were greeting by 2 staff at the desk. They welcomed us and wished us "Happy Anniversary" as this was a special trip for us. We were given a room on the 3rd floor looking east at the mountains. The room was an upgrade to a suite, and after entering the room we discovered a wonderful gift basket. My spouse was suprised and it was great to see his reaction to the room. We will never forget this vacation! Because we were without a car, we took the city bus to Old Town on Saturday. The bus stop is right outside the hotel. Public transportation may not be for everyone, but with an open mind it is fine. We never felt unsafe, even with a few panhandlers.
We enjoyed the breakfasts each day. We loved the large bright eating area, lots of tables and sitting area's. We used the exercise room and loved the nice equipment. Better than most of the previous places we have stayed at. We did not use the pool area, but it appeared nice.
I highly recommend this hotel. It was one of the best Holiday Inn Express hotels we have stayed at.

Doggy1,

Thank you so much for your review of our hotel. I am glad that you were able to have a great experience of Albuquerque. I agree with you on the city bus. It is a great option for someone without a car (great price and convenient). I hope you all enjoyed your anniversary and the beauiful view of our majestic mountains, we were happy to provide the upgrade. I will be sure to forward your comments to our team. Hope to see you on your next trip to Albuquerque!

This hotel is located right off of the 40 and a short drive to Old Town.

Our room was very large and looked brand new.

The free breakfast was standard, but they did have coffee mate creamers! Bonus.

Gym was small and had all the basic equipment. Tip: go to the gym early or late- it has a lot of floor to ceiling windows that heat it up when the sun hits it.

Thank you for your review! I love to hear that our hotel is the nicest HIE you have stayed at. It really puts a big smile on my face. I hope that you will continue to stay with us on your return trips to Albuquerque and with Holiday Inn Express/IHG in other cities as well.

Great tip on the gym. I have forwarded you comments to upper management and we are looking at getting some blinds in that area in addition to the tint.. Thank you again!

I called ahead to get a one bedroom suite but found once I arrived that it was not two rooms, rather one large room with a bedroom/sitting area and kitchenette. The room was very clean and was quite comfortable. The location is about 5 minutes drive from old town proper, the bio park (botanic gardens, zoo and aquarium) and the NM Museum of Natural History. This was great for our family. There are lots of restaurants down in old town, we quite enjoyed the Le Michelle Crepes after having our fill of Mexican. Sadie's Mexican was also great, about 2.5 miles from hotel. We ate dinner at Pueblo Harvest, but were disappointed. The menu looks authentic and wonderful, but product was just so-so.Overall this is a super location and a good value, especially with breakfast included.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the mountains were nice and quite!

Thank you for your review of our hotel. I love our location as well. It is close to everything! Easy access to both I-40 and I-25. Convienent to Old Town Plaza, Downtown, etc. Albuquerque has so much to offer - good entertainment and most of all good food!

I am so happy that you found your room comfortable. I do want to apologize if the room type was not fully explained. All of our suites are large rooms with the sitting area viewable from the bedroom area. We do have a few adjoining rooms that could work for a large family, if you were wanting the closeness but still some privacy as well. An idea for your next trip.

Hope to see you again on your next visit to Albuquerque.
