“The B&B to Stay in Albuquerque”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012

We ended up in Albuquerque during the Balloon Festival and chose the Historic Downtown B&B based on TripAdvisor recommendations. We couldn't agree more with all of the positive comments about the warmth and graciousness of the owners (Kara and Steve - although we only met Kara because Steve needed to be out of town). Kara made us breakfast at 5:00AM on the morning we headed out to the fairgrounds to see the hot air balloon "mass ascension" (an outrageously beautiful thing to see) - and her willingness to do anything to makes guests comfortable was outstanding. There were snacks and fresh fruit and cold beverages in the big kitchen refrigerator at all hours. The B&B is at the edge of downtown on a quiet street - but not far from I 25 and close to some good restaurants (including the Artichoke Cafe).

Room Tip: We stayed in the Freeman room in the Spy House. It was quiet and comfortable but there is only a cu...

A fantastic B&B. We were warmly welcomed by young Abby and Kara very kindly let us check in early. One of the benefits of this B&B is the large, well equipped kitchen which we were able to use at night to prepare a meal. There were also plenty of sodas and juices on tap - greatly appreciated.

Kara is a fantastic host. Nothing was too much trouble and the breakfasts were spot on.

Our room and bathroom was spotless and spacious. All in all a great place to stay.

We stayed at the Heritage House - one of the Downtown Historic Bed & Breadfasts of Albuquerque. We were there for the Balloon Fiesta. Really nice B & B and the breakfasts were delicious. Rooms were quiet and comfortable and Kara always had snacks out morning thru night. Great location to access main roads to get around - i.e. Balloon Fiesta, Downtown Albuquerque, Santa Fe, etc.

Steve and Kara will spend time giving you advice on where to eat, things to do and how to do them - just super nice! We had a great time our first trip to New Mexico. Thanks!

Visiting Albuquerque and staying at The Historic Bed & Breakfast was the best vacation I have had in quite awhile. The atmosphere was very relaxing and the owners, Steve and Kara, were tireless in making each guest feel comfortable and well cared for. The breakfast food was delicious as well as nutritious, combining Southwest cuisine with traditional culinary fare. My bedroom, the Rose Room, was spacious and included a side parlor room. Everything was fresh & clean - and the bed was amazingly comfortable! The location is perfect for sight seeing and the properties themselves have a fascinating history to ponder. I highly recommend this Bed & Breakfast and hope to get back there again myself!

Room Tip: I don't think this establishment has a bad room!

Needed someplace within walking distance of hospital in Albuquerque. This B&B is a jewel. If you don't need to be near the hospital, this is still a great location for sightseeing, etc. Stayed in the Greenglass room at the Spy House. Room immaculate with comfortable surroundings. The bathroom was just right outside the room, which was also very clean and bright. Not having en suite was not an issue at all as the bedroom had sink with hot/cold water. Soft drinks, water, coffee/tea were always available. The gourmet breakfast to die for - the best pancakes I've ever had! Quiche with Hatch chillies. The Grants were wonderful host and made sure to find out if I had any food restrictions. This is a wonderful, charming B&B and so is the family! Highly recommend - my husband and I plan to go back very soon.

Just returned from a trip to Albuquerque for the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta. Our group of eight stayed three nights at the Spy House B & B. Steve & Kara answered all of our questions while planning the trip and made great dining suggestions once we arrived. The B & B is located in a neighborhood that's within a short walking distance to Central Ave (Old Route 66) where we enjoyed great cafes and restaurants. On the mornings we left early to watch the balloons, Kara packed 'breakfast in a bag' for us. Our rooms were charming, comfortable and clean. We had everything we needed for a pleasant stay including WI-Fi.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Rosenberg Room which had a king bed, walk in closet and a large bathroom with doubl...
