“Great place to stay in Albuquerque!”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

Just returned from a trip to Albuquerque for the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta. Our group of eight stayed three nights at the Spy House B & B. Steve & Kara answered all of our questions while planning the trip and made great dining suggestions once we arrived. The B & B is located in a neighborhood that's within a short walking distance to Central Ave (Old Route 66) where we enjoyed great cafes and restaurants. On the mornings we left early to watch the balloons, Kara packed 'breakfast in a bag' for us. Our rooms were charming, comfortable and clean. We had everything we needed for a pleasant stay including WI-Fi.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Rosenberg Room which had a king bed, walk in closet and a large bathroom with doubl...

We came to Albuquerque with our children and their spouses for a family trip. The accomodations were very comfortable and clean. The assortment of rooms pleased everyone. The breakfasts were delightful. Steve and Kara were gracious hosts. The location of the B & B was just perfect for day trips to all the sights .

We stayed at the Spy House on the first two nights of our visit to New Mexico, It was our first visit to the Southwest. We live in Maryland. The Gold room was perfect as my husband and I were traveling with our teenage son, and this room allowed all of us a bit of privacy with the dividing door. We enjoyed our stay and talking to Steve Kara and their children. The breakfast was delicious and was served by the men of the family since it was Mothers Day. I would highly recommend this B & B for Couples or a family with an older child.

We were looking for something different and fun to do when I stumbled across The Spy House Murder Mystery Dinner online. It sounded perfect and couldn't have been more so! Everyone was given a script and encouraged to "dress" thier part. Everything was perfectly executed including time for the "actors" (the guests) to adlib and go off script for some witty dialog of their own. Dinner was beyond excellent from salad to dessert. My husband and I decided to stay the night and received a discount on the whole package. The rooms were lovely with every modern convenience, but with the old craftsman charm. The hosts made us (and everyone) feel like we were the most wonderful guests they had ever had, really special. Breakfast the next morning was a gormet affair and delicious, we lingered over coffee and visited with Steve prolonging the end of our fantasy.

A word of warning, book ahead as they fill up fast! A tribute to the wonderful job they do!

My family of four from Michigan and my Mother from Ohio all came to Albuquerque to visit my brother and his family. The Downtown Historic Bed and Breakfast was the perfect location for us to gather. Our hosts were accomodating, the rooms were lovely and the grounds perfect. We enjoyed the yard and setting tremendously and all felt comfortable relaxing together. The Carriage house was perfect for a family and allowed some additional privacy.

Breakfast was delicious each morning. So delicious, we are clamouring for the expected release of the B&B cookbook. Thank you for the great weekend.

I brought a group to the Downtown Historic Bed and Breakfast and included the mystery dinner as an activity for the group. First off, the B&B is beautiful. The Grant's are great and easy to work with. The rooms are clean, wonderfully decorated and charming. Our mystery dinner event was so much fun that our group could not stop laughing into the next day. I would highly recommed any individual or organization to stay and host events at this venue. It is simply put excellent!

This is the second time that we stayed with the Grant’s at one of their B & B’s. Our first stay was at the Heritage House (five years ago) and our second stay was at the Spy House. Steve and Kara’s attention to design, detail and comfort in the Spy House was just as nice as the Heritage House had been. After a wonderful night’s sleep in our comfy room, we were served with a delicious breakfast. Each breakfast was a unique Southwestern delight and SO incredibly creative. We never knew that breakfast dishes made with green chili could be so tasty! Thank you Steve and Kara for a job well done! We look forward to staying with you again the next time we are in Albuquerque.
