“One of Our Best Parks in Virginia”
Reviewed June 22, 2013

This battlefield park is wonderful! It has a great museum, which they have increased in size. You get to see alot of uniforms and weapons used during the Civil War. Plus, when you go outside, there are cannons and paths to walk, which bring you through the woods. You will love it! Also, the park rangers will take you through the park on a guided tour, if you so wish. This is a must see for anyone who loves history!

“City Point in Hopewell is a Must; a few miles from Petersburg”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

You have to tour Petersburg if your passing through this area. The Park Rangers are superb and could keep talking for hours. But the tour of City Point in Hopewell was certainly an eye-opener. General U.S. Grant made City Point his headquarters during the Petersburg Siege. Located on the river, it provided exceptional access to resupply his federal army while the federal army tightened it's grip on Petersburg. When I visited, we were lucky enough to visit while an reenactor was there playing General Grant and another playing President Lincoln; priceless. Visit City Point, you won't be sorry.

“Civil war enthusiasts”

How could you not want to see the crater? This spot is so significant to the history of the civil war. It was grat to see it. There is a choice to approach the crater. Take the one that leads to the tunnel.

“A Must See Battlefield”
Reviewed June 11, 2013

We were heading back south toward home in the Georgia, but we wanted to see the battlefield, and man was it cool. I lot of cool areas of fighting to see even hideouts and cannons. Also if you are looking to get on I-95 or I-85 right after you finish, one of the exits, or just the main exit, come right out next to I-95, right near the I-85 junction. Overall, this is a must see place when you pass by Petersburg.
