For the past ten years we have been travelling to Brownsville two times per year from Minneapolis. The first morning always finds us at Elva's for their menudo and other breakfast fare which cuts through the residue of the previous night's vigorous excesses at Garcia's restaurant in Matamoros. Elva's has been consistently gratifying. It is somewhat odd though, that like in most of Brownsville, there is not much in the way of English spoken there. All part of the fun, however. Also for you gluttons: they have an extensive buffet that includes omelets and fruit.
