The Mexican-American War is called the Forgotten War because most people don't know much about it and tend to forget it happened. This is one of the battlefields and an excellent place to learn all about it. The ranger I met here was a history major and incredibly knowledgable about the war and all its generals. Because the area is still so rural, the battleground is pretty much exactly as it was during the War and it is easy to imagine the cannons firing.
