Review of Kikis I

Kikis I
Ranked #125 of 363 Restaurants in Brownsville
Cuisines: Mexican
Description: This gem is located just NE of the intersection of N Central Ave and E 14st street just outside the Brownsville Airport. The prices are very low, portions huge, lots of Mexican families here , the salsa and guacamole are to die for and all the platters are great (a little greasy but OK). It's a total dive decorated with posters from "lucha libre" wrestling sports icons. This may be the only "authentic" Mexican food you see on a trip to nearby South Padre Island. They have several other locations in the area.

This place is small and very friendly. We had the beef fajitas and they were outstanding! The green sauce they bring in a bottle to the table was very hot! My husband loved it!! Prices are very reasonable. Will definitely eat here again.

“best options”
Reviewed August 1, 2012

best option when you have uninvited guest. Call them and get your order in 30 min. at no extra charge. Simple, good food, fast and cheap. Don't really like the how the restaurant looks.

“Great restaurant”
Reviewed July 12, 2012

This is a simple restaurant. Not many servers speak English, but that's okay. The service & food is excellent. This is authentic Mexican food. Very reasonably priced. We try to stop in as often as we can.

“Great food, not so great atmosphere.”
Reviewed April 6, 2012

The food is perfect. Their bistec tacos are totally legit, with searing fresh beef, fresh avocado, cilantro, and onions, and buttery good corn tortillas. They have amazing charro beans, and fresh lemonade to boot. 100% authentic mexican. the service is quick, and attentive, but you can often hear the staff arguing which really doesn't make for good atmosphere.
