The Gulfstream is right on the beach and from my experience is typical of the Condominiums built in that era. The condos have a dedicated master bedroom, a convertible second bedroom with bathroom, a living area that can be converted to sleep two, a second bathroom, and an outfitted kitchen.
The nice thing about The Gulfstream is the fact it is on the seawall so you do not have to trek a boardwalk through the dunes to get to beach. This is especially nice in the Texas summers. Like the other beaches in this area this one is not private. Texas beaches are public and people even drive on them. So you have to get to the beach early to stake out your spot, especially in peak months.
Aside from being right on the beach the Gulfstream offers a very nice pool that ranges from kiddy end to 7 feet at the deep end. The kiddy pool is cordoned off from the main pool. Next to the pool you will find a large hot tub/spa, shuffle board courts, two community rooms, and eight gas grills (four on each end) with plenty of seating. The pool also offers towel service so you don’t have to bring them from the room.
Another nice thing is the HEB Plus (grocery store for the non-Texans) right down the road across the bridge. The HEB is convenient and is an inexpensive way to stock the kitchen with food.
The rooms have TVs, Ceiling fans, refrigerator, oven with range, microwave, dishwasher, flatware, pots and pans, plates, glasses, etc. Everything you need for a nice relaxed stay.
The windows have been updated and replaced across the entire building recently; they look nice and are double pained so they should keep the units cooler in the summer.
All in all a great place to go and relax, I would recommend the ocean facing rooms (for the ocean view) or the South facing rooms (no building to the south, just dunes).
We stayed Thursday to Sunday. We were four adults and we were all quite comfortable.
