Holiday Inn Express & Suites Corpus Christi
Ranked #31 of 81 Hotels in Corpus Christi

First off, this hotel is somewhat hard to find. Unless you have a navigation system (we did and we still blew past it) you'll need to drive slow once getting off the freeway. Tip: look for the Outback Steakhouse and Cracker Barrel. There are no signs directing you to the hotel, which is tucked back quite a bit down Oakhurst Drive.
Once we made it in we were greeted by a very friendly front-desk clerk. Our room was nice and clean, had a living-room area and 2 beds, one flat-panel TV, mini-fridge, microwave and hair dryer. The a/c in the room was extremely noisy and made it very hard to sleep. There was an indoor pool but we did not end up using it. South Padre Island is a 15 minute drive from the hotel and there are excellent beaches there. No pool needed! We noticed signs at the beach that said you needed a "beach permit". Not wanting to get any kind of ticket we bought one ($12), however we didn't see anyone checking for permits. Another tip: if you have a car you may not want to drive too far down the beach (vehicles are allowed to park right on the beach) as your car is most likely to get get stuck in the sand. Park only where other cars are parked near the entrance to the beach.

The ice machine on the 4th floor was out of order, but the laundry worked. Another tip, bring your own detergent and softener, as a one-load box of Tide cost $2. The fitness room was small (1 elliptical, 1 treadmill, 1 bike) and it had no sanitizing wipes, only towels. The water dispenser was almost empty, too, but luckily I brought my own water bottle.

The coffee is awful. There are plenty of places around the hotel to buy coffee, so if you're picky about your coffee wait and buy it. The breakfast buffet was also pretty blah. The eggs were pretty gross and we were pretty sure that they were instant. The cinnamon rolls were really dry. The bacon looked like it came out of a box. Stick with the yogurt, hot/cold cereals and fruit.

The USS Lexington is about a 15 minute drive away from the hotel and that is a must-see. Expect to spend a few hours (at least) there.

Stayed here on a extended weekend vacation to CC... Chose this hotel because it was $30 less per night than the OMNI with free parking, wifi and breakfast. Also we planned on doing things on "both sides" of Corpus (which means North Padre + things around the bridge) so this hotel was halfway between everything.

This hotel was everything that you would expect from an HI Express (clean, courteous, etc.). The only downsides that I experienced were thin walls (or very large people staying above us) and an air conditioner that blowed at 90 dB when it kicked in.

Stayed here three nights after a one night in Del Rio as part of a 3 week road trip.

Good all round, no real complaints other than a couple of minor irritations.
Couldn’t change the Aspect ration on the TV so a lot of short stretched people in the programs/films.
Parking could be a big problem if you get back late, even with them sharing the adjacent hotel car park.

Overall a nicely presented hotel

Just got back from staying at this hotel and it is absolutely wonderful. It appears to be a newer hotel everything looks nice and fresh and not worn out like most of the Corpus hotels. The room was very spacious and comfortable. We got a king size bed and it was very plush and roomy. The bathroom was also very neat and tidy. The front desk was friendly and helpful. We didn't get a chance to swim in the pool but I swung by and took a peak and it looked very nice, it's an indoor pool. They also have a fitness center and a little 24 hour shop where you can buy drinks and snacks.

The breakfast room was also great. It reminded me of a little restaurant there were plenty of nice tables and chairs. They also had high chairs for the babies/toddlers, sofas, and a TV. The set up was nice and clean and the food was delicious. They had this neat pancake machine and it was nice because you didn't have to mess with the batter yourself. The machine had a button you push and it automatically starts making 2 pancakes per serving, it was already filled up with batter. I have been to other hotels that have waffle/pancake makers but you have to pour the batter yourself and flip the pancake/waffle and it seems to get messy and a line of guests builds up pretty quick. We will definitely stay again! The area was nice and safe there is an Outback and Cracker Barrel nearby and if you drive a little further up there are other places to eat such as Chick-fila, Joe's Crab shack, Chili's and some other places.

This hotel was new, clean, very nice. Room was lovely, modern, clean, with a nice TV and the softest beds I've EVER slept on! My kids were glad they sold snacks at the front desk, and loved the free breakfast. The indoor pool is smaller than it looks in the pics, but still pretty neat. Hot tub was very hot! It seems like a really quiet hotel in a quiet area. I slept like a baby. Not that far from Padre Island, and way cheaper. Good value!

This was a top place to stay, starting with the fresh look, the room size, the comfy bed, the large TV, the AC--all worked well! The few things I read as negatives were true from the slow elevator to the jutting out of the bathroom sink--but were minor in comparison to the positives above! We will stay again and recommend it to friends! It's a good central location whether going to Corpus Christi beaches or to North Padre and Port Aransas beaches. Every restaurant type and shopping needs are very close by. We felt safe contrary to a negative report of the area.

This was the worse hotel ever. From the outside it looked nice. The front desk people are useless. The so called hot breakfast was a total joke. The ac unit in our room was broken and had leaked all over the floor. They were unable to move us to another room. I have asthma and was unable to breath for most of the trip. They ran out of waffles and pancakes for the breakfast. The eggs and meat items were the worse. I tried to contact management and all I got after 4 attempts to resolve the situation was a 10% rate deduction. I wouldn't send my worse enemy to this hotel.
