Nuevo Cafe is a favorite for lunch in Corpus Christi. The poblano soup is wonderful and they have the best pimento cheese sandwich ever. The homemade chips are delicious. Service is fast and friendly, but you need to get in before noon if you hope to be out by 1.

It is like eating lunch inside your own personal art museum. The food is organic and yummy, the iced tea and coffee are some of the best I have ever had, the decor is dead Elvis/Contemporary art/Day of the Dead. And the waitresses are all tattooed and cute.
(!!!)
And the prices aren't bad either.
It's like someone stole part of Austin and deposited it in the WORST part of downtown Corpus Christi! That and the antique shops across the street will be your only reason to go to this part of town but it is WELL worth it!

I grew up in Corpus Christi so needless to say, I've tried just about every place that there is to eat. If you want to know where NOT to go I could tell you a million places, but if you want to know that one special spot, that place where after a meal you sit back in your chair, a gluttonous smile on your face, and pat your tummy because everything hit a spot you didnt even know you had, well that place is without a doubt the Nuevo Cafe. Its a small cafe, you know, one of those places that you'd miss if you blinked while driving by. And when you walk in you cant help but smile. They feature artwork all over the walls, which is fun to look at while waiting for your food, and the music is this mixture of ethnical trans-world bohemian stuff that is as fun to listen to as the artwork is to look at. Now on to the best part. The food. The cook in the back is a genius, not to mention a big sweetheart. They have their house poblano soup, which if your a lover of spicy food you'll die over. I happen to love their tortilla soup, when I went there it was maybe once a week or every other week they'd make this, but it was like a tangy heaven in my mouth. I also happen to love their club sandwiches and chef salads. They also have an assortment of coffee, tea, and desserts, all of which taste just as bit as good as their food. The wait staff is friendly and unique and the owner Terri is as complicated and sophisticated as her cafe. If you love little corner cafes that ALWAYS have new and innovative food that tastes delicious you will NOT want to pass up this cafe.

This Quirky, artistic, "weird" little sandwich shop / shrine to Elvis aka. THE KING, has won over the hearts of many in Corpus christi.
The food is as fresh as you can get and the prices very reasonable.
Must dos include:
Roasted Poblano pepper soup, club sandwhiches and the chicken salad. Don't forget their to die for (made from scratch like everything else) moist bread pudding along with the featured Seattle's Best coffee!!!
Located on Ayers st. at "6 points" intersection (very close to the bay).
This place isn't in the guide books but very worth every Effort, cheers!
