Let me start with why I picked this hotel. My family and I went to Corpus Christi for my daughters orientation at Texas A&M. The hotel was a short drive to the college and close to the mall for us to do some shopping. This was our first time staying at a Hyatt and we had heard so many good things about their hotel. We weren't enthused about the price initially, but in the end, the location and Hyatt's reputation convinced us.
When heading to the hotel, we had to uturn and circle back around because the entrance is impossible to catch.
We showed up a couple hours before their scheduled check in time and were unable to check in. Which wasn't a big deal, except when we came back at 3, the young lady working the front desk had to go to the back to check which rooms were cleaned. She didn't seem like she enjoyed her job very much and was somewhat rude. This was just mildly annoying, but again, not a huge deal.
We got to our room and everything looked nice. It's a new hotel and everything initially reflected that. My husband sat down and attempted to turn on the TV and got a fuzzy screen. He called the front desk and they tried walking him through how to fix it but it didn't work. They said they would send someone up to fix it but never did. Later, my daughter noticed a line of ants along the wall where the window was. I went down and told the front desk and they offered to move us to a different room but only had king rooms available so we declined.
The next morning we woke up and had no hot water. We let the shower run for 20 minutes and still no change in temperature. My husband called the front desk and was told that it happens all the time and they unfortunately couldn't do anything about it. So we all suffered through cold showers and then headed down stairs for breakfast. The breakfast is included in your stay which was great for us (and another reason we decided to deal with the price of the hotel.) The breakfast area is cute, it's buffet style with a little sunroom off to the side. However, they kept running out of items and when the staff was asked to retrieve more, they huffed and made us feel like we were bothering them. The tables were sticky and the buckets for dirty dishes were over flowing. The food was good though.
When we checked out, the girl helping us was wonderful. She apologised for everything that had went wrong and quickly took down our name and phone number when we requested a follow up. She wasn't able to give us a receipt since we booked through Priceline, which again, was mildly annoying but not a huge deal.
We never heard back from the hotel. Which was unacceptable. The reviews that we have heard from friend about other Hyatt's made us expect an outstanding stay and while most things just mildly bothered us, we left with a very unsatisfied feeling. We don't plan on staying at a Hyatt again.
