Description: The number one question asked is “What does Scuttlebutt’s mean?” Well, we answer, The original context came from two nautical terms; the “butt” (picture a wooden keg) was a wooden cask that stored the fresh water when sailors were at sea. The “scuttle” was the area of the ship where the “butt” was stored. When it was break time, the sailors would gather at the “Scuttle Butt” and drink. This also became a social time, as they could all meet and talk. Now over the years the words joined together and became “scuttlebutt”. This word was used when people would gather together, typically at the office water fountain, and ask one another, “Hey, what’s the scuttlebutt with Jim in accounting?” Here is the official definition according to Meriam Webster; 1a : a cask on shipboard to contain freshwater for a day's use 2b: a drinking fountain on a ship or at a naval or marine installation 2: rumor, gossip. Now that you know what Scuttlebutt’s means, this is what we are about! Scuttlebutt’s is a full service restaurant and bar that truly is a place where everyone, from babies to baby-boomers, can get together and have a great time! Our menu is as equally diverse, with grilled peanut butter, banana and honey sandwiches, hand-cut rib eye steaks, oysters on the half shell and one of the best sushi bars around. Our premium craft beer wall and wine selection is top rated, and make sure to try our house made sangria or our signature Scuttlebutt’s punch. We are a scratch kitchen and our day starts in the wee-early mornings when the hard-working prep team arrives to bust out our house recipes. Another appeal to Scuttlebutt’s is that we offer Happy Hour every day (Yes, week-ends too!) from 3pm-7pm and we have live music every night (Yes, really, every night – unless the Dallas Cowboys are playing). We can easily accommodate larger groups as well as be the perfect spot for date night, which has turned into a marriage proposal on more than one occasion. Call ahead seating is available and we can help plan a perfect office party or celebration with custom menu options. Come visit us and become part of our Scuttle Family!

“Food was ok but too expensive”
Reviewed June 25, 2014 via mobile

We tried this restaurant on suggestion of a local. This place is great if you want a loud festive environment. The music is loud enough that you have to yell at your waiter. We had a very good waiter and the service was excellent. I've tasted better fish at less expensive restaurants. We also had coconut shrimp which was very tasty. The only negative on this place was the high price of the food. A little too high for what you get. The food was not spectacular but not bad.

“All the other restaraunts closed? Scuttlebutt's will get you!”
Reviewed June 19, 2014

A day at the beach, or seven days to be exact, is not to be rushed. Sometimes you don't get around to eating dinner at the normal dinner eating time. So when you're hungry as heck and you set out at nine-o-clock at night, or later, and find all the decent looking restaurants in town closed, you can feel pretty let down. Enter Scuttlebutts; open late, great atmosphere, friendly staff, good drinks, yummy food, huge variety. We ate there most nights and were never disappointed. Thanks Scuttlebutts!

“Fun happy hour, but poor food”
Reviewed June 8, 2014

This place was recommended to us by the hotel desk clerk when we asked for the best place to get good seafood. The place was packed and was obviously a local meeting place on Friday nights. We sat at a round table with backless stools (not the most comfortable for those of us with back problems), but there were no other seats available. We ordered fried shrimp (breaded and tasted like from the freezer section of the grocery store), broiled fish which was tasteless, and salads which were just average. Our bill was $62 and was definitely not worth it. I cannot recommend this restaurant unless you want to go for happy hour drinks.

“Great Food and Atmosphere!”
Reviewed June 5, 2014

Loved the food and the funky decor. We had the grilled romaine salad with chicken and the buffalo chicken bites. Very good! We will go back again for happy hour. The sushi is fresh and made on site.

“Love the Pups!”
Reviewed June 2, 2014 via mobile

Best hush puppies ever! They say jalapeño but aren't spicy & the sauce is a sweet/spicy jelly. Great seafood- the salmon salad is fabulous & portions are huge. Full, crowded bar with a happy hour that's busier than can be. Live music on some evenings. Fun, bustling party place.
