My husband and I traveled to Coprus mainly to see Selena's Museum. At first we were surprised to see that there wasn't much to it on the outside. Infact we passed the building several times before figuring out that what we were seeing was infact the Museum. There were no signs..only an address and a picture painted of Selena on the side of the building. We would be so surprised by what we found on the inside! This was such a humbling expereince because it is a "family business" just as Selena's dad had always said. A cousin to Selena took us on our private guided tour of the studio and then to the one room show of artifacts. Don't be shocked to find that this is a working buisness and not a big too do about Selena but a sweet rememberance for her family and friends. It is not showy and it's not a money making venture. The family has simply set up a memorial in their working environment for the fans. I thought is was very exciting to see things of Selena's like her clothes, car, awards and collections. I was most surprised to meet the family. We saw Selena's dad and sister. They were very polite to us and greeted us as old friends. I was humbled by that expereince. Not due to meeting "famous people" but the reality of this was their daughter that we were gocking at and how personal this was to them. I think they did not make a huge Museum and advertise it is because it is so personal to them. They don't want every peson off the street coming through just for the fun of it, they want only the people who truely adored their daughter and who would have respected her and the family to have the ability to share in her memory. Think of how you would feel if your child died and everyone wanted to walk through your childs room and gock at their stuff and while you were trying to carry on with your life as hard as that would be people are walking through your personal space and passing judgement and so forth. I think if you are truely a fan of Selena's you will love the Museum and come away with an appreciation for what it actually is and what it means to the family. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. We are taking another trip to Corpus just so our daughter can see the Museum. OKC Fan
