The museum (not to be confused with the statue on the sea wall) is well worth a visit for Selena fans. It is obvious that it was opened (with love) to keep her alive in her fans' hearts. It is not large, but has lots of gold records, clothing she designed, jewelery, etc. There is a video of her last concert as well playing. There is a very minimum charge ($3.) A small gift shop is also available (get a CD to listen to afterwards) Her father and other relatives run the museum and we visited with them briefly. It is a little difficult to find, but well worth a visit for fans. (there is also a very good local restraurant across the street)

Very sad to see how the museum is being kept up by her family considering all the monies earned since her death, this place should shine. Everyone is escorted after they are stripped of all cell phones and cameras. you are walked through a musty smelling recording studio, down a long hall way, passed the "gift shop" to the two room museum. You will see outdated televisions equipment, Costumes were not cleaned or made to look fresh, costume jewelry has not been cleaned since her death, place needs to be more organized and "HAPPY" vs. a very somber atmosphere. While we were there her father and sister were in the location who are by no means friendly people and the two person staff was very rude as well. All memorabilia in the museum is pretty much everything you have seen, made available or sold to the public.

I have found some of out of state visitors and younger crowd are unaware of Selena. I recommend renting the movie, then visiting the museum. Selenas legacy of music, and love of fans and community should inspire all to reach for their dreams.

If you love Selena, or have seen and loved the movie, this is a must see. Though small in size, and a LITTLE disappointing, it is a pilgrimage that must be made. The staff was very hospitable, and listened to my Selena stories- being a Spanish teacher who took a field trip to see the movie with 2 buses of kids, and have shown the movie every year since.... Yes it is sad, but for those who truly loved her, it is necessary... Others would think it boring or no big deal. I only stayed about 15 minutes, but am so glad I went. It is kinda hard to find, and very unassuming, but that is part of the charm of this very real family...

This is a place you don't want to miss, when in town, especially if you like Selena's music.
