The is a great beach for the family. It is quiet and not very crowded. Not rowdy at all. The beach was kept very clean and we really enjoyed our day!!

A great place to enjoy the sea life of the area. There are restrooms and showers and the guides do a wonderful briefing of the wildlife. There is a nice store and also a museum and gift shop. The beach is natural. Don't miss the Kemp Ridley turtle releases in the summer.

Since we were taking a trip to Corpus Christi for a Hooks game and to see the USS Lexington we decided to make a beach trip as well. After reading different beach reviews we settled on Malaquite Beach and were glad we did. It was $10 to enter the National Park area (patrolled by Park Rangers another plus) and about 45 minutes from downtown Corpus. To our delight the water was actually blue/green (not brown like Galveston) and was shallow enough to walk out a good distance. Seaweed appears to be removed from the beach daily so the sand was pretty clean. Only trash I really noticed was some left by others at the covered picnic tables, which are great for taking a break from the sun. Waves were fairly small but plenty of kids were using boogie boards. Outdoor and indoor showers were great for keeping the sand from your car and they have a small store and endangered sea turtle exhibit. Signs were up about high numbers of jelly fish but we only saw three along the beach and none in the water. Overall this was a great family beach for sitting under your shade tent and letting the kids play in the surf or sand.

We visited this beach on a recommendation from a friend. The facilities were nice and would be very helpful to visitors who needed a place to clean up or get some souvenirs. The beach was clean, aside from a lot of seaweed, but that can't be helped. There were warnings posted about jellyfish in the area, and our daughter had a run in with one on our first day, but thankfully it wasn't bad. Our second day, we only saw one jellyfish, but had no run-ins with any others. We enjoyed boogie boarding and sandcastle building and the other people that were around us were all families with kiddos. The outdoor showers are wonderful for cleaning up before getting in the car. It was a nice, quiet beach and we will recommend it to friends in the future! Note that there is a $10 fee to enter, but it's good for a week of use.
