Stayed two nights at this Best Western on North Padre Island near the JFK bridge. Excellent location, small property. The breakfast was good and service was great but the rooms were noisy, original construction did not use much insulation and we could hear kids running upstairs and around the corridors. If your going stay at this property, stay at the far end away from the office as we were right next door (noisy). The price was high for this property, but it's the busiest 2 weeks of the year.for this price point, I would stay somewhere else.

Room Tip: stay at the far end away from the office, check in area.

It was a last minute thing, the last trip for the family for the summer, 3 days by the beach and everything thing was book, lucky for us they had a one room left but it was smoking and smelled awful (can’t believe they still have smoking rooms in 2012). But lucky for us they got a quick cancellation and we got a room. The ceiling was real high, a very nice feature you do not see often and there was a ceiling fan too. Staff were very nice, No complaints there.

Cons: the towels were nasty and dark, not the fluffy white ones everyone is used to. These towels were so old. Went to store and bought our own towels. The room was clean, but we did not get any trash bags in the trashcans for some reason. And the bathroom was ok, old but ok. They had super hot water but the shower head did not adjust at all. Also hotel pool was on side of parking lot detached from hotel. Not a great location for a pool since kids had to walk in parking lot to go there.

BIG CON: Breakfast was just pure crap. We learned quick after day one and started eating out for breakfast. The other hotels we stay at like the Hampton Inn just a block down had an indoor pool and a vety nice breakfast.

If this is your last minute hotel then you really have no choice, over all it was ok, I give them CLEAN. It was very clean except for the nasty towels. 2 nights for $390. You be the judge…look around, but if you are stuck with this one, you will be ok. No wow factor at all.

Room Tip: Ask for non-smoking on 2nd floor

The room was decent, and clean. We were provided with plenty of towels.
Just be careful if you bring your dog, Our dog had sharp burrs under her paws after letting her out just once in the area they said to take her. We had to go to the drug store to get scissors to cut them out. We ended up taking her someplace else to potty. We only stayed the one night, that was enough for us.

My daughter and I traveled to Corpus Christi for a mother - daughter trip recently for 4 nights and before booking this hotel I reviewed several hotels and motels and most every review had negative aspects to them. Best Western on the Island had good reviews and I decided to book with them,. We were very pleased with the hotel, the staff and the overall cleanliness of the room. It did require a little drive time to get over the causeway but compared to what was offered at the price and the negative reviews for every hotel I looked at on the internet it did not bother us at all. Our room was very nicely decorated with vaulted ceiling and ceiling fan. We are not morning people so we never tried the continental breakfast. We did find that people on the island were very friendly and helpful. We arrived on Sunday night and silly me I left the car air conditioner running without the engine running and it ran the battery down at the Sonic Drive-In. The staff at the Sonic were so helpful and tried to get my battery charged. I ended up calling a local repair shop and the nice man there came right over and got us going again. We traveled into the mainland for meals and shopping and I can say of all the days we were there we never had a bad experience with meals or anything else. (Be sure and take some mosquito repellent during summer months they do tend to come out at night around the water) We will stay at Best Western on the Island when we return to Corpus in the future. The pool is nice and far enough away from the rooms that noise is not a problem for those of us who sleep late.

Room Tip: If you don't do well with stairs you might want to stay on the ground floor as there is 2 sets of stairs to climb to the second floor
