If you're doing the tourist thing in Corpus Christi this is really a no brainer. It's located right next to the aquarium and there's plenty of parking. They have some guided tours or you can just wonder through the various parts of teh ship or gawk at all of the aircraft up on the flight-deck. If you get tired of that they always have something interesting showing in the giant IMAX theatre installed towards the rear of teh ship.

“One of the best ship museums we've visited.”
Reviewed March 21, 2013

This is one of the better ship museums we've visited. They've done an excellent job with the exhibits and you really get to see a lot of different areas on the ship. The 3D movie was good, but we hoped for something more about WWII than the Reno Air Races. We used to live in Reno and love the races, but we'd have preferred something more about carriers.

“Great time!”

We had a fantastic time. Up and down lots of steep stairs, close walls but it gave a very reaslistic idea of how our troops had it.

“physically fit to see ship”
Reviewed March 19, 2013

we spent 3.5 hours on the ship and neede more time to see the entire ship, the 3D movie was awesome. Learned a lot about the ship and the men that worked the ship. Saw the USS Charleston go by another beautiful ship. Overall Corpus Christi was a nice get away. The shoreline reminded me of Chicago lakeshore.

“Give yourself time”
Reviewed March 19, 2013

We spent 3hrs here, and needed more to be able to see the whole ship and the 3D movie. The movie was good, but not spectacular, and was about 45mns-1hr.

Plan to walk a LOT and go up and down narrow, steep stairs. So, those who are afraid of heights, in poor shape, or overweight, you may want to reconsider this experience. You had to go down stairs (not regular stairs like you think, ship stairs, narrow and steep) to get to the bathroom as well. I watched one poor mama have to carry her kid on her back to get down because the kids was too afraid to go down the stair under his own power. If there was an elevator, I didn't see it, but maybe there is a special bathroom for those with little kids/disabilities????

Overall, a fun experience, and I would go back.
