“Needs consistency.”

The beaches are scattered about from maintained to completely disgusting. It seems like its best to just get lucky with a good spot.

“Nice Free Beach, Not Crowded....”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 4, 2013

My girlfriend and I were down in Corpus Christi for two days and we wanted to have lunch on the beach. It was recommended we go to Port Aransas, which when we got there was nice, but required buying a permit or face a $500 fine. We were only going to be there for an hour or two, so we didn’t want to pay it. A government worker at a nearby State Park, that also charged, recommended a free place on Mustang Island, we went but it was filled with trash and stunk of that and seaweed. We finally went down to Padre Island National Seashore and it was perfect. We should of gone there first and not spent most of the day driving up and down the islands.

This is Federal Land and has access to the beach. The beach has seaweed, but not a major issue and is very clean. The water was clean and clear and has a slow grade into the Gulf. It is a little bit out of town, but worth the drive down. It is also free, no permit needed and wasn’t that crowded like the other beaches. The sand is more natural and a little bit rough, but the natural setting was really, really nice. It is perfect if you want to go to the Gulf for free for a few hours or so.

A lot of people don’t know all of the lands that the Federal government manages and it is your tax dollars at work, so might as well use it. It was the best option we found.

“Sunshine birds wind-surfing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2013

I have visited The national sea shore numerous times in my 3 months here in corpus. They have bird watching, beach walk and talk, and a deck presentation. What an edicational experience, after this trip, I bought a birding book and now go birding. I also learned how to wind surf while on the island. Amazing! Fun! Easy to learn.hope we as people can always keep this area pristine for our future generations!

“beautiful”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2013

This beach is quite stunning, and I was hoping to see sea turtles but I didn't. It was fun swimming in the waters until my boyfriend and I got stung by a bunch of tiny jellyfish larvae and we swiftly left that beach.
