We are annual members to the beach and will head down for a few hours on the weekend to de-compress. We usually go in the morning and leave when the crowds start coming about 1 pm. A four-wheel drive will get you further down the beach than we usually go, it would be more secluded. We however a happy to stay near the entrance.

This is a must see for anyone coming to Texas. You can drive your car on the beach for miles. You can park there and enjoy the waves and seashore. A great place to hunt for sea shells. There are portable toilets in some areas. The beach is very clean and provides a great day of fun and sun for the family. We went there on Labor Day and it wasn't crowded at all. There are many miles so people can spread out. Have a tailgate party, bring a beach umbrella or gazebo. But be aware that it can get quite windy.

WOW! What a wonderful surprise...After you drive in the entrance, take the first left that leads to the beach (right before you enter the "paid campsite" area). We parked right on the beach lot. To the left, there were people fishing, flat bed trucks with sun umbrellas and picnics, and lots of activity. To the right of pylons that you cannot drive through, was the pristing quiet 'walking, reading, sunbathing crowd.' It was pretty, free, and had something for eveyone. An unexpected, lovely beach!
