Owner description: Discover the amazing underwater world of the Texas State Aquarium! Thousands of animals representing over 320 different species are ready to enchant, entertain, and inspire you. Corpus Christi's most popular cultural attraction has welcomed over 12 million visitors since its grand opening in July 1990. Conveniently located on North Beach, the Texas State Aquarium is just minutes from Corpus Christi's downtown district, convention center complex, and museums. The Texas State Aquarium Association is a not-for-profit, educational institution that does not receive any city, state, or federal funding for its operations. Every visit to the Texas State Aquarium is a new and exciting discovery of animals that remind us all of our responsibility to those whose world we share. The Aquarium's Second Chances Wildlife Rehabilitation Program is federally permitted and operates under rigorous standards established by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Each year, thousands of protected, endangered or threatened species along the Texas coast become ill or injured. Most are brought to our facility with problems caused directly or indirectly by humans. The goal of the Texas State Aquarium's Second Chances Program is to rehabilitate, and whenever possible, return the animals to their natural environment. The Aquarium is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and is a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The Aquarium's mission is to engage people with animals, inspire appreciation for our seas, and support wildlife conservation.

“Fun Time”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

We took a trip to Corpus Christi and had a great time visiting the Texas State Aquarium. It was a cool place to watch the Dolphin Show, look at the tropical fish in the aquariums inside, eat corn dogs, and see the USS Lexington across the bay! We took a lot of cool pic's. This would be enjoyed by all ages!

“Lots of things to see and learn about”
Reviewed August 30, 2013

All of the displays were both entertaining and educational. The animals are not exploited. The location is great. I enjoyed seeing the WILD dolphins in the Corpus channel from the viewing deck atop the aquarium. Splendid views.

“Fun afternoon”

Had a great afternoon at this aquarium. A great way to get out of the weather. The dolphin show was fun and most of the exhibits were interesting. Good for families.

“Great little hidden gem.”
Reviewed August 25, 2013

We visited this in August 2011, not 2013.

This little aquarium has a lot to offer. It is right on Corpus Christi Bay, within walking distance of several eateries andalso the USS Lexington, a retired aircraft carrier. There is a little gift shop, a cafeteria, and a little observation deck where you can have a front seat view of all the big ships coming into the port of Corpus Christi. They have a dolphin show, river otters, and sea turtles, as well as several small aquariums and areas where they have birds indigenous to the area and tropical birds. Visit during the day, during the week and you won't have to battle the crowds. They also have a little water park for the little kids.

“Great for kids!”

My 6 and 3 yr old boys loved it. Wish we had had enough time to even play at the splash park. My boys enjoyed all of the touch tanks and the dolphin show.
