Owner description: Discover the amazing underwater world of the Texas State Aquarium! Thousands of animals representing over 320 different species are ready to enchant, entertain, and inspire you. Corpus Christi's most popular cultural attraction has welcomed over 12 million visitors since its grand opening in July 1990. Conveniently located on North Beach, the Texas State Aquarium is just minutes from Corpus Christi's downtown district, convention center complex, and museums. The Texas State Aquarium Association is a not-for-profit, educational institution that does not receive any city, state, or federal funding for its operations. Every visit to the Texas State Aquarium is a new and exciting discovery of animals that remind us all of our responsibility to those whose world we share. The Aquarium's Second Chances Wildlife Rehabilitation Program is federally permitted and operates under rigorous standards established by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Each year, thousands of protected, endangered or threatened species along the Texas coast become ill or injured. Most are brought to our facility with problems caused directly or indirectly by humans. The goal of the Texas State Aquarium's Second Chances Program is to rehabilitate, and whenever possible, return the animals to their natural environment. The Aquarium is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and is a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The Aquarium's mission is to engage people with animals, inspire appreciation for our seas, and support wildlife conservation.

Our granddaughters had a great time! We did too. Great helpers on staff for the handling of the sea animals and a GREAT dolphin show!

Nothing like a place fully devoted to our sea neighbors. Love love loved it. Make sure you don't miss the dolphin show! You won't regret it.

“Wet and Smiling!”
Reviewed January 17, 2013

I took my 10 year old here. From petting the sharks, sting rays, and watching mom get soaked in the dolphin show everything was great! There are lots of interactive things for the kids and kids at heart to do. We had been staying on the beach, and had seen a lot of man-o-war washed up. We found at this aquarium why there were so many on the beach, and my son was able to really relate something he saw with something in the aquarium. The next day we saw dolphins playing in the bay. He could tell me so much about them because of his trip to the aquarium, and his excitement was not anything I could ever have put a price on. Thank You!

Lots to look and learn here at the Aquarium. I keep a membership active so that I may take any friends and family visitors. Summertime water fun.

“Enjoyable Afternoon”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

Since not every day can be spent at the beach we chose a rainy, cold day to visit the Aquarium. While it does not compare to the Monterrey aquarium (it clearly has much less funding) I have to give it a high rating for a lot of reasons. The exhibits are structured so that both kids and grown ups will get something from each display. The variety is not too repetitive. The hands on, touch the animal, part is well done. The whole place can be taken in on a single afternoon and the organization of displays is compatible with a lazy stroll or a quick hustle through.
