Corpus Christi's most popular cultural attraction has welcomed over 12 million visitors since its grand opening in July 1990. Conveniently located on North Beach, the Texas State Aquarium is just minutes from Corpus Christi's downtown district, convention center complex, and museums. The Texas State Aquarium Association is a not-for-profit, educational institution that does not receive any city, state, or federal funding for its operations. Every visit to the Texas State Aquarium is a new and exciting discovery of animals that remind us all of our responsibility to those whose world we share. The Aquarium's Second Chances Wildlife Rehabilitation Program is federally permitted and operates under rigorous standards established by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Each year, thousands of protected, endangered or threatened species along the Texas coast become ill or injured. Most are brought to our facility with problems caused directly or indirectly by humans. The goal of the Texas State Aquarium's Second Chances Program is to rehabilitate, and whenever possible, return the animals to their natural environment. The Aquarium is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and is a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The Aquarium's mission is to engage people with animals, inspire appreciation for our seas, and support wildlife conservation.

“Love the Texas State Aquarium”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

We visit the Texas State Aquarium every year when we go to Port Aransas. It's not huge, but it's perfect for a family with small children. We like to get there early and see some exhibits before the first dolphin show. The kids love the splash park that opened last year, so be sure to bring swimsuits for the kids. It generally takes us about 2 hours to see everything. Older kids might be bored, but for the time being, it's perfect for our family.

“Save your money and go to Sea World.”
Reviewed May 28, 2012

I paid $75 for my family of 5 to visit the above today and cannot remember the last time I was ripped off so badly. It takes an hour tops to see the various fish tanks then you camp out for an hour on concrete seats so your family has a place to sit for 3 pm dolphin show. The dolphin show lasts a whole 15 min tops and is of the calibar you would expect from some sort of traveling circus. Facility is fine but a very poor value for the money.

“CC Visit”
Reviewed May 28, 2012

We were here for a 3-4 hours. Had lunch in the cafe which was as you would expect for such a place. Watched the dolphin show twice, which was great. Lots of school groups but the kids were well behaved and well supervised.

“Have you ever pet a Stingray?”
Reviewed May 28, 2012

This awesome aquarium has provided an experience that many may never allow you. They allow you to reach into a large pool, and pet live stingrays.... They remove the stinger, which allows you to feel their smooth body float under your hand.

They have a endless seeming tunnel of aquatic exhibits which allow you the sight(s) of a lifetime. If you are curious about the ocean - look no further....

“Texas State Aquarium”

It does not matter how old you are (e.g. someone who has seen & done that type of attitude) - this is a great place to visit. Great for kids and adults; the location being on the shore along with the great weather made it a fantastic visit. We arrived from the Corpus Christi city center via boat ferry; the docking pier is next to the Tx State Aquarium and the USS Lexington
