“convenient for national harbor”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2010

This hotel offered free shuttle service to the national harbor which was a big plus. The staff were friendly and helpful. I was a bit afraid of the other comments I read, I was completely impressed. Rooms were clean and hotel was well maintained

Need to burn the place down to get rid of the roaches and bed bugs.
If you see them you better fumigate your clothes before going home.
The neighborhood is not safe either. Paythe price and stay at the Westin or Gaylord.

We have stayed at this hotel on two different occasions in the last 6 months. We come to Oxon Hill to visit a sick family member - otherwise, I'm not sure we'd ever stay in Oxon Hill. We've never had problems with the hotel. On both stays, the rooms were clean and a good size. Every member of the staff that we've ever dealt with was friendly and polite. It's obvious that the hotel is undergoing some renovation - there are clear signs of construction in the back parking lot - but we've never had a problem with parking. The best things about the hotel are the good value and the great staff. On one stay, we needed to check in early and they were very accommodating. The only issue we've ever had is that, as some other reviewers have noted, if your neighbors like to turn their TV up you are going to hear it - but we've never really had a problem after 11pm (unlike some other hotels I've stayed in, where people are up partying until early morning). TWO THINGS TO KNOW for your stay - #1 Bring your ethernet cable if you plan to use internet, they don't have wireless, but free high-speed ethernet connection, #2 If you're not a fan of the new small, square pillows that have started popping up in hotels, bring your own pillow (some people like the smaller pillows - not me). As far as the location - if you're a family traveling for a weekend visit, Oxon Hill is a short drive to downtown DC, maybe 15 minutes on a weekend. If I was a business person who had to be at a meeting at 9am Monday, I'd stay in DC or at least closer, because with traffic it would take too long from Oxon Hill. The hotel seems to be in an okay part of town - I don't know that I'd describe anywhere in Oxon Hill as a "great area" - but this seems okay - and anyway, the hotel has interior corridors. There are some grocery stores, a Kmart, some fast food and an Outback Steakhouse within a couple of blocks, an easy drive. Overall, this is a good value at an okay location. The next time we visit our relative, we will almost certainly stay here.

This hotel is HORRIBLE. I had to change my room twice because of Cockroachs and paper thin walls. The first two nights I couldn't get any sleep because of noise from the TV in the room next to me. I called down to the Manager and he was not able to get the people in the room to turn off the TV. I moved to another room with no luck, then to another room, this room was loaded with cockroachs. I left this hotel and checked into a Holiday Inn Express.

In spite of the hotel's claims, this hotel is far in the suburbs and is NOT close to downtown Washington attractions or Old Town Alexandria. (It's about a 10-minute drive to an end-of-the-line station, IF you can find a spot in its parking lot!) My room was generally OK and the staff was helpful enough, but the hotel was rundown overall, there were NO decent restaurants nearby (unless you count KFC), the 'deluxe continental breakfast' was doughnuts and coffee, and the people in the next room argued all night and then watched very loud TV. If you're in the area to visit Washington, there are some similarly-priced hotels that are more accessible.

The nicest issues about this hotel include very good value at $89 per night 6 miles from Washington National Airport, very good rural location near shopping and restaurants, and a VERY excellent staff comprised of owners who live on property and care for guests 24X7. I have stayed here ten nights over the past five weeks. Each of five different rooms had minor problems including a broken chair, bad internet connection plug, sink stoppage, inoperable refrigerator, and inoperable TV remote controller. Each problem was fixed IMMEDIATELY by the owner including replacing the broadband internet plug within fifteen minutes - impressive. The rooms are always clean and well prepared with very nice linens and towels. The rooms are large enough to be quite comfortable and every room includes a small refrigerator and microwave oven. I will continue to stay here every trip I return to the Washington DC area. At $89 per night, this room is well worth the price and a very good value.

The Park Inn was at all what I expected. The beds were squeeky, and I wasn't sure I would fall through. The carpet was old and ugly. This hotell needs new beds and a lot of upgrades. It reminded me of the "No Tell Motel" I would not recommend it for out of town guests. I was there for a function. The function was at the Best Western, however, the Guest Rooms were reserved at the Park Inn. They are only worth $29.00 per nigh, not the $59.00 to $69.00 they advertised. Like the saying goes, you get what you pay for.
