This is a review of the branch on Q Street in Washington DC, hope that's right.
This is a takeout joint and an unadorned one, but the food is really good and the whole experience worth having. It's not a place that puts a lot into anything but giving you good food at a very reasonable price as fast as is possible. We had fried chicken with two sides--very good--and sweet potato pie for about 8-9 bucks. The other people who came in ordered the usual mix: fried okra, collard greens, cole slaw, chicken-friend steak, all of it completely authentic and apparently very good.
Let's be frank, this is not a place where rich people hang out. There weren't any limos outside; some people who came in and just ordered a side were clearly having their restaurant experience for the week, and a side was all they could afford. I'm sure that Henry and his staff isn't getting rich, either.
But they're all getting fed and fed well. Thanks to you all.
