“Best in town”
Reviewed February 24, 2013 via mobile

Outclasses everything else in town. By far the best. Beautiful spacious room, large bathroom, lovely sitting area large flat screen tv, excellent food. Don't stay anywhere else. Former guest house for visiting senior mining execs. Friendly owner can even cook. Reserve well in advance .

We stayed two nights at the "Guest House Inn" in Bisbee room. The room hast two separate beds and is very nicely decorated. The room was very clean. The shower is very good.
The owner, Mike is very friendly and made us feel as guests. We enjoyed two delicious breakfasts (homemade waffels with icecream and berries and a piece of turkey one day, the second day a fritatta, avocado, a homemade muffin with mesquite flower and white chocolate in it).
The living room is very beautiful, if one wants to write postcards or emails that is a perfect experience to do it in the living room, while the other person can sleep in the Bisbee room.
We highly recommend the "Guesthouse INN".

We stayed here for our trip to the organ pipe cactus national monument and were delighted with our visit. Our twin room was spacious, clean and well appointed. Breakfast was a 'formal' affair, gathering around a beautifully laid table - great fun and good food. Our host was delightful and our stay was a lovely experience rather than just a stop over.

The property is very interesting with a wrap around inner walkway, so our room did not have a window opening to the outside. I believe that it dates back to the 1920s and used to be a guest house belonging to the mining company. As you arrive, you will be greeted by an amazing garden, so you know you have arrived at the right location.

I was expecting a little more elegance. The carpeting in the "great room" needs to be replaced -- it smelled musty (something I don't often experience in the dry desert). The room was clean and functional. The wrap-around porch gave us a nice place to sit and do some work in the morning before heading home. The breakfast was sufficient, but was only offered at 8 a.m. -- not a good thing for early risers like my wife and I. Also, there should have been coffee available earlier.

This guest house from the Phelps Dodge days has been converted into a nice guest house with large bedrooms close to the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument and the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refugee. The relaxed atmosphere and the well maintained flower garden allows you to relax after a hard day of exploring and trekking. The generous breakfast and of course the innkeeper Mike makes you really feel you are a welcomed guest at his inn. A place to stay again when you return to this area.

Ajo, AZ is a remote town in transition from its days as a copper mining center. There are historic houses and buildings in town, and the spectacular Sonoran desert surrounds it. Mike, the innkeeper, has renovated the former guest house for mining company visitors into a charming B&B. Our room was clean and well-appointed. The breakfasts were excellent. I had left behind an ebook reader in the room, and Mike posted it to me without charge.

Built to house guests to the nearby copper mines, now closed some 30 years, the Inn has large rooms with hall ways on the exterior walls that accommodate desks where one can quietly work on a computer while their companion sleeps. A huge entry living room houses many magazines available for guests. The front yard is ablaze with color from the many beautiful flowers that are planted there and the backyard has a sampling of most of the cacti that one will see on hikes in nearby Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. The breakfast of cornmeal waffles with blueberry sauce and ice cream was accompanied with turkey bacon and fresh fruit. A frittata the next morning. Two things, if changed, would make the experience perfect. First, have coffee available early for the risers on eastern or central time zones. Second, provide a room darkening treatment for the French doors that separate the room from the lighted hall. The host was congenial and helped us with local dining and hiking plans.

Room Tip: The rooms have private baths and three have queen beds; the fourth has two single beds. You cannot...
