The rangers at the visitor center were very helpful and gave us some very informative leaflets. Took the Ajo Mountain drive and had a lovely peaceful time with two walks and lunch under an ocotillo roofed ramada. Only saw one other car the total time on our 21 mile drive! Allow plenty of time.

The volume of cacti per square mile is amazing. They are beautiful! Take your own picnic and a camera. Stop in the ranger's office to buy your pass and get information about the park. They are friendly and helpful.

All of the hikes off the driving loop are fantastic! Bull Pasture is a great beginner hike while the hike to the top of the natural arch is more challenging and only marked by intermittent cairns, but it's well worth it for the view.

When you are in Arizona, travel south from I-10 at Buckeye to Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument for a few days of lifetime memories in a place where time has slowed down to a crawl.
This national protected wonder is as alive with opportunity to explore by foot, vehicle or simply by learning at many of the scheduled lectures provided by park rangers.
Camping is available in the park – lodging is offered 45 minutes away in Ajo, AZ, along with restaurants and local artists offering their work.
Organ Pipe is a national bio-sphere recognized by the United Nations and protected by the National Park system. Only in this park will you see the unique organ pipe cactus, the other location to view is in Mexico, thus making this treasure, exactly that – a treasure.
Take good hiking boots, water and a day to explore this incredible desert community.
Time stops here, memories begin – come for a day, plan a week.

A video and short nature walk at the visitor center introduce you to the fauna and flora, The rangers are good offering advice on hikes. The bathrooms at the trail heads are great. The signage directing you to a trail head is absent in the case of Alamo canyon so watch out as the road is just north of the bridge and easy to miss.
