The room was spacious and clean. There was a separate bedroom and sitting room. The bathroom was well lighted and clean.

The hotel had a nice central atrium, with not very high rails, that could make someone who is afraid of heights nervous. A covered parking garage was available next door.

It is a little bit pricey for the accomodations. While clean enough, it was very dated. The staff was nice, though, and the breakfast was ok. I don't know if I would stay here again if in town. It wasn't terrible, it just didn't wow us.

Tip: If you do stay, the 2nd floor has an exit to the top floor of the parking garage, which really helps to get the car packed easily in the morning.

Aged property in process of being updated. Rooms are ok, air conditioning could barely keep up with the high temperatures outside. Breakfast buffet a big plus. Please watch leaving valuables in the parking garage, I had a rented mountain bike stolen off of a stairwell where it was locked. Overall though, hotel was convenient and close to all activities downtown.

I will probably stay eslewhere on my future visits.

(This review was mistakenly posted on the SLC Hampton Inn TripAdviser
page and NOT on the Embassy Suites page: my mistake and I thank a fellow TripAdviser participant for pointing that out for me! Here's the same review, but this time on the right page.)

Overview: My wife and I stayed here for five days the last week of January 2007. We used the Embassy Suites as our ‘base camp’ for our Utah ski vacation, our first ski vacation as empty nesters, without the kids. As such, the hotel served us quite well. The Embassy Suites
has a lot going for it and, as you would expect with just about any hotel, it has some drawbacks. The plusses outweigh the minuses.

Three reasons why you’d want to stay here: 1) The room was spacious and we were able to spread out all our gear and equipment without any problem. Having the extra space on a five day trip of this type really helps, as does having a small refrigerator and microwave. 2) The breakfast and the manager’s reception were much better than we had thought they would be: the ‘made to order’ breakfast was just what was needed before hitting the slopes and after a long day of skiing the reception was a nice touch (the snacks – popcorn and pretzels - could use an upgrade, though). There even was a piano player for entertainment. 3) Location: this is a plus AND a minus. The hotel is next door to a sports store where we bought discount lift tickets each morning and getting to the highway in our rental car from the hotel was very easy (and vice-versa).

Three reasons why you wouldn’t: 1) Location: this is a plus AND a minus. The hotel is not exactly near the restaurant district. We walked the four or five long blocks each night to get to the restaurants. I’d say that the hotel is on the edge of the ‘downtown’ (safe) district, but we never felt un-safe as there were people always walking on the sidewalks with us. 2) Housekeeping: this is a pet peeve of mine. Why can’t hotels have the rooms cleaned and ready for you when you return in the afternoon? At the Embassy Suites, we returned from skiing at 4 p.m. and housekeeping was just starting with our room – all I wanted was a nice hot shower but I had to wait until they finished. 3) We thought we had reserved a non-smoking room but the room we got definitely had a smoky smell to it. Unfortunately the hotel was filled and we couldn’t change room. And, would it hurt to put a larger television in the room?

Conclusion: For the price, we were quite happy with the hotel. I think we’d use it again if we ski out west in Utah. You definitely could do worse.

As mentioned in other reviews the decor is a bit dated nevertheless everything is very clean and maintained. Being a family of 5, Embassy Suites is our top choice when traveling. The breakfast is the usual cooked-to-order breakfast and is very good. The happy hour snacks could use some variation, it's either popcorn and chips or popcorn and pretzels. The indoor pool was a nice way to relax at the end of the day. It's not as long as the photo on the hotel website makes it appear, maybe 20 feet length max. I always check to see if hotel windows actually open and here alas the windows are hermetically sealed. We'd stay here again if we're in SLC again, came here to visit a former beloved music teacher and to try some skiing but the weather didn't cooperate with respect to the skiing.

My family (party of 6) has stayed at this facility twice. This last trip was a 4 night stay while we were in SLC on a family vacation. We arrived about midnight and called the hotel shuttle to come get us from the airport. They arrived very promptly and the driver was very pleasant even at that late hour. Check-in was smooth which was a blessing since we were very tired.

One of the things that I like about this hotel is that my entire family can stay in one room. We had a room that had 2 full beds and one pull out sofa. It is very difficult to find a hotel that will allow you to have that many people in one room. That is one reason that I give Embassy Suites Hotel my repat business.

The suites consist of a living room area (that has kind of a little kitchen area as well. The kitchen area has a small refrigerator and microwave as well as a sink area.) There are 2 televisions in each room.

We ate the cooked-to-order breakfast every morning and never went away hungry. This service saved us an incredible amount of money. We also participated in their manager's reception where they served pretzels/popcorn and a drink. One night they also served chips and salsa.

Although the hotel was relatively full, I didn't notice much noise. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were always kept clean. The hotel is located about 5 blocks from downtown. The trax lightrail train stop is located 2 blocks from the hotel and is free to ride within the downtown area. We were provided with a train schedule by the front desk.

This hotel also has an indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi. The pool isn't huge but is sufficient. There were quite of few children there when we went but I noticed that they do have "adults only" hours after 10 p.m. There is also a gym although I did not use it.

When it got time to leave, the front desk printed out our boarding passes for us and also made the arrangements for a taxi to the airport for us since their shuttle was not running at the time that we needed to go (it was very early in the morning).

I look forward to staying in this hotel again on another occasion.

Great customer service and nice, thoughtful perks abound at this hotel. We stayed at the SLC Embassy Suites for a 5 night ski trip, and it couldnt have been better! Conveniently located in downtown, nice views of the downtown area and the surrounding mountains. Free cooked-to-order breakfast every morning, and a complimentary happy hour every evening -- this saves so much time and money over the course of your stay! The covered parking is free too (not the normal, overpriced $10-20 that a lot of downtown hotels soak you for). While the rooms are a little dated in the decor, the quality is not bad (not worn and natty), and the rooms are spacious suites -- outside living room area, separated by a hallway leading to the bedroom. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. All around great experience; we plan on staying again for our next trip to SLC!
