“Nice large suite”
Reviewed May 30, 2008

We had the King suite which was quite nice. It had the typical two rooms. The living room had a table and four chairs, sofa bed and stuffed chair, and TV, The bedroom had the king size bed, TV, desk and chair. The bed was comfortable. The parking was covered and free. The front desk was very friendly. In fact they got the hotel shuttle to take us to dinner and was willing to pick us up for free. We did tip him. We decided to walk back to the hotel after seeing it was not that far and the neighborhood was very safe. The evening reception served sodas, and drinks, and popcorn. There is an exercise room, pool and hot tub all located on the first floor. Breakfast is wonderful, so many choices and cooked to order. We enjoyed our stay.

Found ourselves in Salt lake for a few days due to a highway closure on I-80. The hotel has great covered parking, but also was able to accomodate us with a parking pass for outdoor, onsite parking for an oversized vehicle. Rooms were very clean and spacious, and included a mini fridge and microwave. Very handy since room service only operates from 11-11. We were in a double, which also had a double sleeper sofa, table with four chairs and 2 tvs. Also convenient was the FREE wireless internet.
The pool and hot tub were small, but also very clean. There is also a sauna in the pool area. Our two kids had the whole thing to themselves. We talked to the pool maintenance guy (after seeing him a few times) and found he tests the water 6x per day.
Front desk was very nice, agreeing to make copies for us from the business office at no charge, arranging for late check out, and shuttle service after we shipped our vehicle. The included breakfast was ok, but there were a variety of hot and cold choices, and pretty standard for the free continental and hot breakfast bars of most hotel chains that offer that service. It only took us 25 minutes to get to park city ski areas, and there is a ski snowboard rental next door.
Also convenient is the light rail, only 1 block from the hotel, in the "free zone" to ride to temple square and the zcmi shopping area 6 blocks away. Also an easy walk to Temple square in good weather. Very secure feeling neighborhood, but also easy access to the interstate.

This it the 3rd time we've stayed at this hotel and the 2nd time for a full week w/our ski/board group.
As always, the rooms are clean and a real deal for 2. Breakfast is certainly all you can need w/plenty of fresh choices. AND you cannot beat the happy hour w/drinks although we wish one of the beer choices would include one of the many great local beers rather than the normal Bud and something light.
We already looked to book for next year, but the rates seem to have gone up and we are forced to look at other options. We'll continue to monitor for a better deal that what we see now as far as rates go. This is really a great place for a ski trip. Free parking, rooms w/space to gather, breakfast, happy hour, walking distance to Macaroni Grill, Squaters Brew Pub, PF Changs, etc. We hope we can stay there again. To the hotel mgt, don't raise the rates, please.

This a great hotel if you're with a family and plan to ski. All the ski resorts are within 45 minutes drive, or you can take the Utah Ski Bus to most locations. Good value for families, considering that you get breakfast each morning.

My wife and I stayed here for three nights during President's Day weekend. We used it as a base to ski Snowbasin to the north and Solitude to the south. I love the Embassys! Big suites, nice and clean, great buffet breakfast, and a great value. I booked this back in October for $130/ night. The best part? Free parking in their covered garage! I thought it was an amazing value. Would definitely recommend this to anybody staying for any reason in SLC.

My wife and I had never stayed at this hotel before, so we decided to give it a try while travelling on our honeymoon. We stayed one night on Oct 7th before our flight out of Salt Lake, and one night on Oct 12th after flying back. Both nights, our experience was pretty much the same.

Here's the highlights of this hotel:

The location is pretty good, if you get a room on the north or east side of the building, it overlooks the city which is great at night. The windows are completely soundproof, so you won't hear any street noise at all. Windows are also tinted which can make a photo of the city lights a bit difficult to get.

The neighborhood isn't a bad area either, we felt safe here and it's close to many places to eat.

The hotel is nine stories tall, and has a huge central atrium that is kept immaculate by the employees. In the atrium are many live tropical plants that add to the ambience of the hotel. There is also a large-screen TV that seems to be on most of the time, and a large relaxing fountain to sit and watch.

Every morning between 6:30am and 9:30am, a FREE cooked-to-order breakfast is served, featuring all the common staples of a continental breakfast in addition to freshly cooked hashbrowns, eggs, a variety of breakfast meats and even omelettes. this feature alone must have saved us over $40 in food expenses, as you'd expect to pay at least $20 for two at a nice sit-down breakfast restaurant in the area.

The hotel is truly beautiful, and the rooms are no different. Each room is very spacious, all rooms are suites. We stayed in a double-bed suite one night, and a king suite the other. The double beds are pretty small, you're better off opting for a King suite if you can.

All the furnishings appeared to be in excellent condition and we found no problems with our rooms. Bathroom has a nice hairdryer provided, and in a closet next to the bathroom you will find a complimentary microwave and mini-fridge available for your use.

There are two televisions in each room, one for the living room area, and one for the bedroom. Both are large and have good reception. Furniture is very comfy. These rooms feel like home away from home.

The hotel was very accommodating for our parking needs as well. We needed to leave our car at the hotel for a week while we flew to San Francisco, and the hotel was willing to let us leave it in their garage, for no fee at all.

Our airport shuttle driver was also very helpful, offering late-night dining advice for us on our return home.

We didn't try "The Plum" restaurant's lunch or dinner menu, so I can't comment on that.

I did, unfortunately, have to take one star away from the Embassy hotel, unfortunately, because we found the front desk staff to be somewhat condescending both times that we stayed here.

When we checked in the first time, I asked the front desk agent if I could put a cash deposit for incidentals instead of having the standard hold on my visa card. He acted as if my request was unreasonable and said that I "ought to know that" the hotel needs some security, regardless of what my budget needs are. We were very unimpressed with that attitude.

Aside from that comment, most of the agents at the desk that we spoke to or asked questions of responded in a "better than you" tone. Fortunately the front desk is only one aspect of the hotel, and the only aspect we didn't like. All the other staff, and the hotel itself, were excellent aside from that.

We'll probably stay at the Embassy again. We'll just avoid talking to the front desk any more than we absolutely have to.

The room was spacious and clean. There was a separate bedroom and sitting room. The bathroom was well lighted and clean.

The hotel had a nice central atrium, with not very high rails, that could make someone who is afraid of heights nervous. A covered parking garage was available next door.
