After staying in chain hotels for the past few days on a business trip, I was thrilled with the welcoming, relaxing atmosphere of the Inn on the Hill. Location is perfect, good parking, quiet room with a jet tub, wireless internet, great coffee and a delicious breakfast. I wish I came to SLC more often so I could stay there again. This is one of the best all-around B&Bs I have stayed in!

We loved our stay at the Inn on the Hill. It is the former home of a wealthy doctor/businessman built in the very early 1900's. The rooms are nice, the staff is attentive and the breakfast is very good. We will return.

My husband I own our own little B&B and wanted to get some R&R. We found the perfect place in Salt Lake. The Inn on the Hill, a beautiful restored Victorian , much larger than ours, but still has all the charm and warmth of ours. Our room had a great balcony overlooking downtown. The bed was so cozy it was hard to leave!(not to mention the view!) We treated ourselves to the Romance package, and what a treat. We arrived back from a wonderful dinner at Christopher's (great service) to find our room a glow with candle light and the most beautiful music playing. In the morning, breakfast was served in bed, a treat I haven't had since we started our own B&B! Since we are football fans, we relaxed in the game room watching the game and played some pool. The staff was so personable and helpful and there are treats located everywhere in the B&B. This is a must place to stay when in Salt Lake, easy to downtown, Gateway Shopping, restaurants and nightlife. There is no need to look for another place in Salt Lake!
I also recommend is the Memory Grove Carriage ride. A beautiful ride and a great way to get some history of the area. We look forward to our next time at the Inn on the Hill!

My husband and I recently stayed in the Inn for the 2nd time and loved it. It is comfortable, clean, well kept, intimate and the people there are so friendly. The breakfast as yummy and we had a great time. We stayed there 1 night and then decided to splurge and stay at the Grand America 5 star hotel in SLC. We wished that we had just stayed 2 nights at the Inn! The "fancy" hotel was a big disappointment.

My husband and I went for an overnighter for our anniversary and had a great time. the house has been lovingly restored with original floors, hardware, etc. We were checked in by the owner and the staff was esp. friendly. We stayed in the Canyonlands room ($130) and it was plenty roomy and the bathroom was neat, fireplace was very nice, although the tub had no showerhead. Their complimentary items were great.....free waters adn juices and snacks, and they supplied Aveda brand shampoo and toiletries, which was a big plus for me. Breakfast was on time (you sign up for the time slot you'd like to eat) and delicious, and they had homemade muffins and juices. They also had a nice billards room with a flat screen, adn 2 great sitting rooms, with impressive fireplaces. They had an optional romance package for $30 which included lit candles on return from dinner, breakfast in room the next morning and a 2 hour later check out, but we didn't take advantage of it. I thought it was a reasonable price for the service, though. Also had wifi, which was a big plus for the husband. The location was very central to downtown, and their was a great view. The only thing that needs improvement is their website (can't book online, nor are their prices), but other than than, I'd definitely stay again.

My husband and I had never stayed at a bed and breakfast before, and boy what a wonderful time. It was if we were the only people there. The room was wonderful a bit on the small size but we just loved it (Wasatch Mountain). There is a balcony off the room and it had a small table with chairs, we enjoyed sitting out there and looking at at the city. Breakfast was very nice there was just the right amount of food. The weekend we stayed we were celebrating our anniversary and when we returned from dinner our room was filled with candles, even the jetted tub had candles around it. The next morning we were treated to breakfast in our room. The day we left we made reservations for our next anniversary and plan on making it an annual trip.

The Inn on the Hill is certainly a grand old house and was originally built just after the turn of the twentieth century. There are several common rooms on the ground floor for dining, reading, watching television, or playing billiards. We stayed in the Carriage House which is a separate building to the main house. The Carriage House has two storeys with the kitchen, lounge, and bathroom on the ground floor. The second storey has the bedroom and a small sitting area with a desk. The main house has thirteen suites that we did not see during our stay. Everything was clean and well made up when we arrived with Christmas decorations throughout.

Our arrival into Salt Lake City was delayed until after 11:00pm due to airline problems. We rang the Inn from Los Angeles to let them know we would be late and the staff were very obliging and said they would wait up for our eventual arrival; this ended up being sometime towards midnight. The obliging hospitality continued throughout our stay, mainly at breakfast as we didn’t need many other services. Breakfast times were chosen the night before but as there were very few guests during our stay we had any time we wanted from 7:00am through to 11:00am.

The full breakfasts were typically an egg based dish of some sort, cereal, and toast. Plenty of coffee, fruit juice, and fresh fruit as well. The housekeeping staff kept the refrigerator in our room stocked with water and soft drinks; snacks such as crisps and nut mixes were left in the kitchen.

The wireless internet service was patchy in the Carriage House and would only work in certain locations. We are sure that the service would be reliable within the main house.

One major problem we had was the bath/shower which was almost impossible to use without flooding the floor of the bathroom with water. The generous flow of water from the shower head would be trapped on the wall side of the bath and then be channelled around the bath and onto the floor. With four people using the shower this became very annoying.

The location is very convenient to Temple Square or the Family History Library however with the major redevelopment of downtown Salt Lake City currently underway there were very few, if any, choices for dining nearby. We would stay here again in future once the redevelopment of downtown is complete and we would choose to stay in a suite within the main house. Until then we will stay somewhere with easy access to the Family History Library and dining.
