“great food and service, despite waiting time”
Reviewed January 16, 2011

7pm reservation apparently means little, as we got seated at 7:35 . I can understand some dinners may cause delays, but the reception staff seemed clueless. Coat check was offered, but, that meant waiting in the cold waiting area for 30 minutes without a jacket.
All that aside, service and food was great. Menu options were overwhelming and execution was quite good. Pastas are definitely homemade and well pepared. Mains lacked finese, but were very good. Probably the best that Salt Lake City has to offer.

“Not worthy even if food was free!”
Reviewed December 29, 2010

If you are in the mood for an Austrian-Mexican with a fake Italian manager then cucina toscana is your place. The wine list is atrocious and the wine is marked up 300% if not more. The food is not fresh. Walter, the manager is to say the least " a fake" but he will tell you a beautiful story to get your money. There is so much more to choose is salt lake. Think twice before going here.

“Cucina Toscana is the place”
Reviewed October 30, 2010

This is the place to go for an amazing meal in Salt Lake City. Conveniently located downtown in what has become a restaurant district, with a large parking lot and street parking, it is easy to find and get to. The creativity of the chef, fresh ingredients, presentation, the atmosphere, and the wonderful service combine to make this a real treat. Save room for some amazing desserts. They have the best lemon gellato anywhere.

“dissapointment - used to love going there”
Reviewed October 28, 2010

Went there a couple weeks ago for my birthday and everything was off.. This is my first Tripadvisor review and I write it only because their food went down so much.
First, was taken by the hostess to my table, which was all the way in the back of the restaurant, only to find it was occupied. The hostess told us "please go back to the front and wait!" no apology (and if you know the place - you'll understand the unpleasantness of that "walk of shame" back to the front). Then their usual tasty Caprese Bruschetta arrived burned on the bottom, the gnocchi had no salt in it and no flavor (used to be the best in town) and my steak (which advertised as being pepper and salt crusted) had no pepper or salt on it (AT ALL).
Well, I was disappointed and shocked to realize the place went down like that. The owner, Nassi, wasn't there that night, so maybe he no longer runs the place (that would explain the total disaster of a meal we had there).

“If You Eat Only One Meal in SLC - Dine Here”
Reviewed October 21, 2010

Having just returned from a holiday in Italy, I could not believe how great the food and service was here. And, in SLC of all places. Valter, not shy or afraid of the camera, runs one of the best Italian restaurants I have enjoyed. In fact, I took two sets of clients here in one week. Great food. Great staff.
