Description: A word from The Garden Cafe - Grand America Hotel Ambassador of Special Events, Ali Raafati, works hand in hand with Executive Chef Phillip Yates to make every meal in the Garden Café extraordinary. The Garden Café’s menu pays tribute to the finest “local” ingredients Utah has to offer, such as Niman Ranch beef, Morgan Valley lamb and Zoe’s Farm produce. Our famed Sunday Brunch features live jazz and time-honored favorites such as roasted prime rib of beef, jumbo shrimp, oysters on the half shell, and Alaskan King Crab for starters…and a special buffet designed just for kids! You will want to save room for the dessert display created by our award-winning Executive Pastry Chef, Jeffery de Leon. Experience the joy of sharing good food with friends and beautiful surroundings at the Garden Café (wine list and cocktail service also available).

The Garden Cafe is quiet and uncrowded. The food was very good, and service is fast and not pressured. Local fish dishes and some creative pasta dishes. They will prepare small plates. There are a few side rooms which give the impression of solitude and after a busy day, that works. Wine menu is good as are local beers. Wait staff are highly professional and knowledgeable. Good experience. After a good dessert, they show with another small plate of dessert. Very pleasant.

Who knew that you can get an exquisite brunch right here in Salt Lake City, absolutely magnificent. They offer everything for everyone's taste, whether its king crab legs and jumbo prawns your craving to sushi of different varieties or prime rib. Not only is the food plentiful and fresh but very tasty as well. The restaurant offers a flare of elegance and exceptional service. I was very impressed by the restaurant's manager, Ali, who went around each table and greeted the guests as if each were his family. He made sure that everyone was well taken care of and his warm and gracious smile brightened our day. I can honestly say that this was the best brunch I have ever had. Everything looked and tasted delicious. The brunch price is $45 for adults and $22 for kids and worth every penny. Can't wait to go again.

Ate dinner here before a redeye flight out of SLC. Excellent service and menu. The quality of the dishes is superb. Wine list is one of the best i have found in SLC. Enjoy.

We ate at the Garden Café twice, and tried and failed once. We had successful and satisfactory experiences with lunch and dinner -- lunch being the best value for money with many to the same offerings at dinner for a higher price. Meal portions are more than ample, and I needed help just eating an appetizer! Their steelhead trout is superior (see photo), their bread fresh and tasty and the atmosphere very good when not completely swamped (such as at Sunday Brunch).

We tried to have breakfast once and that was a disaster. The hostess resented seating us at a quieter table and the waitress simply forgot us all together. We ended up walking out and eating breakfast in the Lobby Lounge/Restaurant. That was a far better outcome. It's hard to believe that in a fabulously fine hotel like the Grand American you can get shoddy and shabby service at The Garden Café. Sad, but true.

This dining experience was top notch from start to finish. The room setting is elegant and the high ceiling in the main dining area made for a quiet meal even thought the restaurant was full by the time we were eating the entrees.

The wine list is quite extensive and priced according to expectations for the location. The server was helpful and attentive and was able to offer some back ground on the menu selections and the ingredients.

All of the dishes (appetizers, mains, and desserts) were very attractively plated and perfectly sized for our appetites. The image, aroma and tastes were excellent and left us wishing there were more courses to partake in. The food was obviously prepared from fresh ingredients and with great care. Even the coffee was great.

Our server was very helpful, if a little shy at first, but by the end we felt comfortable enough to tell her that the only complaint we had was that the Semifreddo was too hard to cut into easily. Before we left she came to tell us that she had passed on that comment to the chef.

This may not have been our number one restaurant meal in almost 40 years of dining together but it is certainly in the top ten. From comments on this site it looks like other's experiences might not have hit as high on the scale as ours, but based on our dinner here we would strongly recommend this restaurant.
