The Chinese Gourmet is a large facility located at the intersection of 4500 and South State. Parking is easy and it's easy to find. Like most buffets, some of the food is good and some not so good - how long it has been on the steam table is an issue in this format - but they seemed careful about rotating the food. They have a wonderful "wok" table - you select various vegetables, noodles and meats into a bowl and hand it to the chef who cooks it on an immense "work-like" looktop. I've not seen that before. The salad bar is about average for Utah, and the meats and chickens fall into that same category. Their fried shrimp was very good. The wait staff was friendly, the place was clean though not as well lit as I'd have preferred. This wouldn't be my first choice for a romantic meal, but it was a very good lunch and would be good for the family. There are a bunch of heavy people eating there - but that's true of most of the single-price buffet places and is hardly the fault of the restaurant. Overall I found it to be about what I expected - reasonable food at a reasonable price - and the cooking station was a nice bonus.
