“Love the building”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2013

Plenty of good solid comfort food served cafeteria style and the rolls are to die for! The roast beef was a bit of a disapppintment, four little squares of beef floating in gravy with potatoes and carrots, should have been billed as beef stew. Everthing else was wonderful and did I mention the rolls?? Dessert was delicious, highly recommend the chocolate cake.

The building is awesome, be sure to take the tour of the Beehive House next door to walk off lunch!

“Lovely Lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2013

Had a lovely lunch here ... the staff were very pleasant and the young chap behind the counter spotted that we were New Zealanders and knew all about the All Blacks. They bring the buns to you after you have got your meal. Make sure you take your plates and utensils back up to the drop off dishes point - we sort of found that bit out by ourselves ...

“Wonderful home made food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2013

The quality of the food in this casual eating location is just matchless. They serve home made foods and lots of it. The bakery should not be missed also. They have the best baked goods anywhere.

“The Lion House”

You get to see a pioneer house still in use. The tour is great, and they have a delicious cafeteria style restaurant in the basement. Good, comfort food.

“Nice Cafeteria”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 20, 2013

This is a good place for what it is – decent cafeteria food in a historic building. The prices are reasonable, and the famous dinner rolls are good (more sugar in them than I like). Folks at our table asked for and got a second helping of rolls (and took them to-go).

Yes, the ceiling is low, and when crowded it is difficult to move from one room to another, but all in all not a bad experience.
