Good food and beer and good selection of both. But does have a pretty bland atmosphere. Great location in downtown with an easy walk to shopping or Jazz games. Servers were friendly and were willing to give recommendations. And they had a decent variety of selections. Casual atmosphere and definitely has some choices for the hearty eater. And a couple of options on the other end of the spectrum for the health-conscious eater.

Z"Tejas is conveniently located in the Gateway, within walking distance to the Energy Solutions Arena where the Jazz play, thus making it a great place to eat before the game, or any other event, especially because their happy hour food specials are so good. In the early evening small plates range from $5-$7, and they are anything but small. Anticipating small, we decided to order 4, but our waiter urged us to order 3 and then still see if we were hungry. Good advice...we were stuffed. The sauce on the catfish tacos is beyond description. The tostada bites are spicy and topped with succulent shrimp. The dumplings were our least favorite of the three and still delciously spicy and satisfying. We washed our food down with the famous margaritas. The skinny margarita does not have that nasty aftertaste so common in skinny drinks. It was every bit as good as what I imagine the regular drink will be. The next time we have Jazz tickets, we'll be back, if not sooner.

A great find in the heart if Salt Lake City. Located behind the cinema in the Gateway complex, this busy restaurant has all the trappings of southwestern cuisine, with a twist. The chilli relleno stuffed with smoked chicken, apricots, raisins and walnuts is divine. Chorizo stuffed pork loin is another must try. Generous portions, and fast, efficient service. There's a happy hour 4-7pm Monday to Friday with a variety of snacks for $5-7 per plate. The restaurant is large and can accommodate small or large groups. A fun experience overall.

Didn't plan to come here, just happened to wander by. Food surprisingly good. Really nice flavours and well presented. Atmosphere is what you should expect from a mall style restaurant, not an intimate dining experience. Good value & good service.

I ordered the catfish tacos and holy cow are they amazing. The Asian dipping sauce is off the charts great. Another in my party ordered the Diablo pasta and substituted steak (not on the menu but handled without hesitation by or great waiter). The entire serving was fabulous and dint forget the corn bread ...whoa! This is a place i would recommend to anyone. The only drawback is the atmosphere ... Loud music from the kitchen makes it hard to rest while you eat.
