A bit dated and the diner attached to the hotel is typical diner food.

Room Tip: A north side room will give you a better view of the city

Comfy beds. Nice shower. Soft water. Our room was very warm and after trying everything to cool down we opened the sliding glass door in November. Asked maintenance to fix door so we could slide it open which they did promptly with some oil. Felt a bit old and worn but very clean. I think their heating bill must be high. The man who fixed our door was called to fix the temperature in another room while in ours. We had a great view of the Wasatch Mountains which made it easier to overlook some other things. They wrote up our overheating problem so hopefully that will be fixed. We would look around for a dog friendly

Thanks for leaving us a review on our hotel. We apologize your room was a little too toasty during the cold weather. We have made the necessary adjustments, and look forward to providing all our guests with a nice, reasonably warm room during this winter season.

I stayed at this location for a weekend visit to SLC. I won the hotel room through PL and was extremely nervouse about the stay based on the reviews. The hotel is nicely convenient to downtown SLC and the 80 and 15 interchanges. plenty of parking as well. The check in was fine and I was informed that even though my room was prepaid through PL they would still hold $20 on my CC, not bad and was glad that i was informed which rarely happens at check in with other hotels. The room was average, nothing special. It has been somewhat remodeled, but the bathroom is very small. The bed was comfortable and the linens were newer. My only complaint about the room was the temperature in the room. It was OVERLY hot at all times. It was warm in SLC this past weekend, but there was no air con in the room that was working effectively. I had to open the sliding glass door to let what little breeze was available in. It created extra noise in the room. Obviously this would not be an issue when its cooler out, but just seemed odd that they did not allow for air conditioning to run during unusually hot weather.

We were glad to hear you enjoyed most of what we have to offer, but are also thankful for your detailed review. Most of our guests have requested additional heat this time of year (at night), so that's what we have it set to as a default. We regret it was uncomfortable for you, so please on your next stay do not hesitate to let us know as there are options we have to get the temperature in the room to get you nice and comfortable. Thanks again for your feedback!

I wanted a downtown hotel with on-site parking so we could spend the few hours we were going to have in SLC as efficiently as possible, and the Red Lion filled the bill. For a hotel of this price the room decor is just the tiniest bit dated some things a little worn, but everything was clean and in working condition, the bathroom included (which is often where hotels seem to have the hardest time keeping up appearances). The staff were very welcoming and happy to answer all the questions we had, offering helpful information without being asked.

Hotel was centrally located for our needs (family). Staff was extremely courteous and caring about the needs of their guests. Parking availability was minimal and could be improved upon. Minor construction was onging on the property site but did not impede safety and comfort of the guests.
Staff was extremely willing to provide transportation to any restaurant their guests desired. Rooms and linens were clean, although somewhat worn in appearance. Proximity of free transportation using Trax light rail to downtown historic sites was a plus. Special occasion/promotion rates for entire family and wedding guests was a bonus.
We didn't particularly need Wi-Fi or any special electronic gadgets. Breakfast accommodations were good, but other meals in the restaurant tended to be too spicy for our tastes and overpriced for what was presented.
One elevator seemed to have problems with the door opening prematurely so we tended not to use it.
This was our first visit to Salt Lake City so we were pleased with our hotel choice.
