“Better in Springtime”
Reviewed November 18, 2012

We had a few free hours and thought we would go check out the Garden. It is nice to be outdoors and walking around but I thought I would see a lot more native plants. Should be better in Spring time as they did have large gardens and looked like a large area for roses, flowering plants, herbs. Thought the entry fee was expensive for what it was. Thought of it as a donation to research as this seemed like a place that was connected to the university.

“Saw Diana Krall here”

It was a wonderful evening in a natural amphitheater surrounded by gardens. Very nice! If you are going to an event, get there early for parking and be prepared to walk some.

“Okay place to visit”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

If you are looking for things to do in Salt Lake City and have extra time the Gardens is a good choice. However, don't expect to find many native plants and it's possible to even view plants the County do not recommend planting due to it's ability to out compete native plants. It is nice to be outdoors and walk around the garden, but be aware this is not the place to visit to help determine what you could plant at home.

“Good”

Its a nice place. It belongs to the University of Utah and should be visited in the winter period because you will not find anything interesting there in that period.

“November should be free”
Reviewed November 1, 2012

What a disappointing garden, it should not be open to the public in November or it should have been free. It should stay closed until spring. The place looked badly neglected, all there was to look at was labels for next years plants, the rest was bare earth.
No doubt it is lovely in the summer but it is very sparse in November.

Dear Warboys,

Thank you for taking the time to review Red Butte Garden. We are sorry you didn't enjoy yourself as much as our other patrons have. Because it is November, there aren't a lot of flowers in full bloom right now, but the garden is alive with fall colors and textures. The walking paths through Herb Garden, Medicinal Garden, Fragrance Garden and Rose Garden are wonderful. The views of the Wasatch Mountain foothills and Salt Lake City are amazing. This time of year, the trails in the Natural area are full of diverse foliage with fascinating seed pods and berries, and wildlife.

We will post more current fall photos to the Trip Advisor page.

Thanks again,
Red Butte Garden
