“Go on to Park City”

Agreed, this most certainly is a beautiful spot to visit. Plenty of 3 season opportunities for hiking, camping, picnicking, etc. And in winter add skiing, both downhill and cross country. But if you're out for an adventurous drive when the road's been plowed, take the trip over the pass to Park City. If I lived in Utah, that, rather than I-80, would be my route between SLC and PC when the snow allows.

I go up this canyon year round, for skiing, looking at changing leaves in the fall (Unbelievable!) and for family pic-nics. LOVE THIS CANYON!!!

“Beautiful place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2013

Great for skiing, hiking, having a picnic, or just for a scenic drive. Brighton and Solitude ski resorts are very nice, and Silver Fork lake is a lovely destination with a boardwalk that's wheelchair accessible during the summer months. It's a flat, easy walk around the lake, and there are trail heads for the more adventurous. The terrain is quite different from Little Cottonwood Canyon, despite being right next to it. (If I remember correctly, one was formed by a glacier, the other by a river.) It's about a 20 minute drive from downtown SLC to the mouth of the canyon, and about another 20 minutes to the top of the canyon. Silver Fork Lodge, near the top of the canyon, is a great place to stop for a meal.

“Quiet”

Solitude... always a nice quick option from Salt Lake to avoid the hordes mobbing LCC. Cheap, quiet, pleasant.

“Great Views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2013

The skiing is really good in both little cottonwood canyon and big cottonwood. The drive is a bit scary however and during a big snow storm you can get stuck on either sided of the canyon.
They do a good job with the snow plowing but the drive is about 14 miles.
