It is rare to find the perfect combination of a clean bar with great beer and friendly people that is not too fussy and not too spartan. This is it. It's comfortable in a familiar sort of way. There is no pretense. It is clean and easy to settle into on trusty padded stools, not full of chic overstuffed sofas. The bar is great with built in ice tray running the length of it. They use it because it works not because they are trying to be trendy. The staff is genuinely friendly and very knowledgable about their beers. A great experience all the way around.

We stopped in for a couple of beers while we were shopping downtown. The ice section built into the bar to put your drink on to keep it cool was great. I wish every bar had this. This place was great and the beer selection was too.

The Beerhive Pub is definitely the feel of a local pub in pretty Salt Lake City. I wanted to go to a pub that had character, that had dark wood colored panels, that had lots of barstools and people who appreciate finer tasting beers. The Beerhive Pub is a BULLSEYE! There were about 30 barstools, which I appreciated. In San Diego you are lucky if you see 10 barstools at a bar. I was also excited to try Polygamy Porter which was brewed by Wasatch Brewery. I ordered a Polygamy Porter, because that is what you are supposed to do if you are out of town. I watched the Polygamy Porter cascade and dance around the glass like a pint of Guinness. Polygamy Porter is like a Guinness with a chocolaty finish. I'm not much of a Guinness fan (sorry, not trying to offend) but I liked the Polygamy Porter better because of the chocolaty taste. Also, they had a great selection of tap beers including Squatter's Pub Beers (Chasing Tail) etc. The fact that you can buy local microbrewery beer at such a great price is worth buying a round for a friend or friend's. Isn't that what a pub is all about, a social drinking experience! Salt Lake City is the place to do this! They serve your typical pub food. According to my friend, their burgers were great! I had a couple bites of nachos which were tasty. The day we went in, there was only one girl and the bartender serving over 25 tickets. The girl was buzzing around like a bee, but we tipped her well and told her to tell the manager that a convention was in town and that they should "up" their staff. Needless to say, on the next visit in, there were 4 servers and a couple bartenders. Great place to relax and unwind. There are TV screens in their for the person who needs to watch something moving on a screen, otherwise get to know the person you are with or chat with others around the bar. Utahans are super nice people!

We enjoyed this place for many hours one night while out for drinks with friends. The bar has a long, unique ice section to it in order to keep your beer cold while you talk. This has to be the largest "on tap" selection in SLC. It has many of the great local breweries on tap as well as some of those beers from the better known craft breweries in the nation. After a couple hours, we got the munchies and they were able to bring over food from the attached restaurant.

We loved this place so much we went here 4 times in 7 nights for the MASSIVE beer selection with a lot of the pints being $4. We loved the Hyde Park seasonal Cream Ale so we kept going back.
Apparently it is popular with locals as well. It is small so be prepared for crowds on weekends but it always had room for us. The iced bar was pretty cool too!
