You can see the overlook of the city. The best time to go here is like 30 mins before the sunset... read more
I only had about an hour, and was just going to walk to the lower viewing area. Then I realized the view must be really good from the top, so I quickly hiked up. The view was indeed awesome, though I recommend allowing at least two hours so the hike can be a bit more leisurely. The hike requires good shoes, and some water! It is worth it though.
This is a wonderful hike just north of Salt Lake. It is a bit strenuous, rocky and, in some places, steep, but well worth the climb. Don't plan on wheelchairs or strollers making the trip. Try to go in the early morning or evening hours - it was hot by 10 a.m. when we went. Take a bottle of water and make sure you have a camera! And wear good shoes! It's one of the most amazing views in the valley!
STopped here while in town and it was probably my best stop on the trip. You can take a very short hike (maybe 1/4 mile) and you will get to a point where you have an amazing view of the city. There was a 2nd option for hiking that was probably about 3/4 mile up but I didn't have the time or energy to do that one but will for sure on my next time in town. The views of the city and mountains were amazing. CHeck this spot out for sure.
this is by no means an easy walk - a moderate to steep climb however for a desk jockey it took me a little while to get up there. Took our 15 yr old son who had NO problem. Plan of taking a minute or two beak along the way up but very much worth the effort getting up there. Good trail - should have some good soled shoes wth traction as it has a few spots with small stones that you will slip on if you don't have on good shoes.
This place needs to be visited in the evening to enjoy the sunset view. Choose a pleasant evening to enjoy the chilly weather conditions while climbing this small hill. Not much activities are there other than walking up the hill.
Don't miss out on this gem of a hike right near downtown Salt Lake City. Best to view at sunset and you won't regret it
