Description: The Copper Onion is one of the new additions to the growing Utah foodie scene. Former NYC chef (and native Utahan) Ryan Lowder now brings his personal take on New American cuisine to his own kitchen with an approach inspired by his passion for Utah’s outstanding farmstead ingredients and his experience as a chef cooking his way through Barcelona, NYC and South America. The Copper Onion serves a wide array of vegetable side dishes and a menu designed to explore and share, with plates such as Ricotta dumplings with lemon, sage and brown butter and Braised Pork Belly with shaved Brussels sprouts and pickled celeriac. Entrees include Fresh house-made papparedelle with lamb ragout and Duck Confit with butternut squash and roasted mushroom caps. An insistent focus on the freshest and best is paramount; sausages and burgers are ground daily, bread is baked and ice cream is made in house, offering casual diners an exceptional experience at affordable prices.

Had dinner with coworkers at the Copper Onion while at a conference in Salt Lake City. The restaurant came highly recommended by locals we met while attending the conference, and the meal did not disappoint!!

Among coworkers we had a variety of entrees represented at the table including the Rainbow Trout, Ballard Farm Griddled Pork Chop, and the House Meatloaf (yes, meatloaf, lol) dishes. On whim I ordered Cast Iron Mary’s Chicken.

While, everyone was extremely pleased by their dinners, I have to be perfectly honest with you... that was THE BEST chicken entree I have ever had! The flavors were absolutely amazing!!

We stayed all week in Salt Lake and tried many restaurants that were highly recommend online and by locals, but the concensus was that this was the best meal we had, by far.

The ambiance of this restaurant is lively and hip. The dinning area is a bit tight, but not uncomfortable. Bar area was very cool as well.

If you're a foodie or in town looking for a tremendous meal, you must try the Copper Onion.

You must try this restaurant! We responded to the Salt Lake Magazine advice and were not disappointed. Try a "artsy" movie right next door after dinner at the Broadway Theater...fun!

We recently had brunch here--wonderful food. Short, but effective Bloody Mary. It can be a bit loud at dinner, but brunch was perfect. Biscuits & gravy was stunning. The staff is very good about making items vegetarian. It's a very "pork" place. Would have liked a cup of coffee, but the server just brought the check.

Eaten here several times in the last few months. Love the cheeses, local charcuterie and olives to start. The bone marrow, alone, is worth a visit. Mussels are also excellent. The restaurant has a very relaxed atmosphere, patrons are dressed up or in blue jeans and t-shirts, but they are all there for one reason - - great food. The menu is comprised on local fish and meats and every dish has interesting sides and sauces. Lots of creativity in the dishmaking. One of the best, tenderest and juiciest pork chops I've ever had. It is a tight fit and there is always a wait. They do 50% reservations and 50% walk-ins (although that can change night to night). It is a very popular place so if you do not have reservations, plan on a wait - - enjoy a drink and order some olives, the wait is well worth it.

Absolutely fabulous food. Priced incredibly reasonably considering the quality. The best preparation of vegetables in Utah. and the pastas are always prepared perfectly. Reservations are a must, and even with that you'll usually wait...but it's worth it.
