My family went to attend final week of 100 years of Scouting exhibit and found other exhibits equally entertaining. There are also amazing photo opportunities inside building as you can see in one shot I took catching reflection of Moroni statue while capturing nighttime view of Salt Lake Temple outside.

It was a pleasant surprise for several reasons. The display honoring 100 years of the Boy Scouts of America was very interesting and children were crowded around the front trying to guess the answers to questions presented in the video. It has lots of information about the Mormon Church, but much of the displays also apply to American and European history. Attendants were available to answer questions, but no one pressured us about the Mormon faith. It's right next to the Family Research Center and just across from Temple Square. Definitely worth a visit.

The exhibit for kids is very well done and children can literally spend hours exploring. There is something that will interest any child, from life size building blocks, to dress ups, play kitchens, gardens, computers, and even a fishing boat. I visited in July with six children and every one of them (from ages 1-10) enjoyed playing and pretending. Because we had so many children with us, we kind of walked quickly through some of the other exhibits. The favorite (aside from the children's area) was the story of how the Mormon Pioneer's came to Utah. They had the different modes of transportation (handcart, wagon and ship) depicted, along with artifacts that were brought and journal entries of pioneers. My daughter (age 10) really liked seeing all of that. This museum is free, but you will have to pay for parking.
