“Great weekend in Salt Lake!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 20, 2012

Usually I travel on business but this was a weekend getaway with my wife. I have stayed in several SLC hotels but this was my first stay at Hotel Monaco. It's a really chic hotel. The service was great from the moment we checked in through our departure. When we got to our room we found it to be nice but small. I really didn't care about the size but the bed was not a king - I'm not even sure it was even a queen. I called the front desk to inquire and we were immediately upgraded to a much larger room with a king bed! Not sure why we were assigned the small room as we booked through AMEX not hotwire or priceline?? The Bambara restaurant, located inside the hotel, is one of Salt lake City's best restaurant and the food is excellent. The Monaco's bar/lounge is classy and comfortable. My one complaint is they closed the bar early (around 11) on Saturday night. My wife and I had been out to dinner and a show and we were looking forward to a relaxing night cap. We went next door to a bar called The Red Door and it sucked - a terrible band and overpriced drinks! The Monaco is right in the middle of downtown SLC and is within walking distance of Temple Square and the Energy Solutions Arena. I would highly recommend brunch at The Oyster Bar if you happen to be in SLC on a Sunday.

Hello -

We are thrilled you decided on the Monaco for your weekend get away with your wife. Its sounds like you enjoyed your stay with us with the exception of the small room and the early closure of the bar. We hope you will be back again soon - Happy New Year!

This boutique hotel has a geat location and if you can get a good rate is a fantastic value. The staff is wonderful and as a return guest I was made to feel even more welcome with a personal note card on my pillow! (This is only my third stay) There are numerous good restaurants and bars to walk to as well as shopping. It is also well situated to the highway if you are traveling out of downtown. I come here on business but it is always a pleasure.

Although I usually choose Starwood hotels because I have status there, the Hotel Monaco is my favorite place to stay in SLC, which I visit for occasionally for business. Generally, it's an all around solid choice - well located, with clean nice rooms, walking distance of a lot of good restaurants and the new outdoor mall, and there's a free wine hour every day.

Besides all that though, the service quality is what makes this hotel stand out. They really go above and beyond - free internet, $10 credit for the mini bar (whatever you want!), and most of all - I left my Chanel sunglasses in the room and expected to never see them again. I was incredibly shocked to receive a call that they had found them, and would drop them in the mail - just $6 shipping charges to my credit card (more than fair, and a lot cheaper than getting new sunglasses)! Thank you Hotel Monaco, for being an all around solid hotel, and with an extremely great (and honest) staff.

The hotel is just a two or three blocs away from the Temple Square and an attractive Shopping Center. The style of the hotel is somewhat pseudo-luxurious, but the service was impeccable, and the room on the 12th floor was spacious and very comfortable. The restaurant offered good choices and quality.

I travel alot on business and had not found a hotel I could call home in Salt Lake. The Hilton is tired and is well just a Hilton, The Marriott is OK and Little America feels old and tired. Me and two fellows employees gave The Hotel Monaco a shot this week and were very pleased. The staff is over the top friendly and go out of there way to make the stay pleasant. One of my employees ate at the restaurant and said it was incredible. The rooms were comfortable and quiet and I have found the hotel I will stay at in SLC now!

Perfect location in walking distance of good restaurants and bars. Valet service is a bit of a rip off but ou don't have much choice.

Service was fantastic , we didn't have any hot water, they sent and engineer up to fix is and was back up and running within 40 minutes.

Recommend the wine hour st 5pm each night, also sign up to their loyalty program before you go (for free) then you get free wifi while your there.

Could do with tea maker facilities in the room as room service for a tea and coffee was nearly $20!!

Would definitely stay here again when in slc.

Great location downtown right by the light rail. Great service and decor. The rooms are well appointed and have lots of power outlets.

Heads up though.....the parking in valet only and they do charge for internet.

That said its a well run hotel and my new favorite in SLC. You won't be disappointed.
